How old is your child? Will the three of you fit in one double bed OR are you expecting some other type of arrangement for your child? (crib, pullout sofabed, rollaway, floor, etc??)

So you in fact do need more than just a 'double bed'... you need at least two beds in the room (where the 2nd bed could be a rollaway, pullout sofabed, etc)

The 'problem' with bidding is that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request (which is likely in NYC where hotels have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed, many rooms don't have space to accommodate a rollaway (some hotels don't even have them), and rooms with two beds are often considered an upgrade from 'standard'.

A better option this situation is to use HOTWIRE (which allows you to search for up to quad occupancy per room) or use PRICELINE EXPRESS and choose an offer that shows a 'Bed Choice' and where one of the choices listed is a room that will accommodation your family (either by two beds in the room or indicate an additional pullout sofabed)

For example, there is this 3.5* Midtown West property on PRICELINE EXPRESS that shows a room of '1 Queen Bed + Sofabed - Nonsmoking Room' and has the following amenities:

Business Center

Restaurant

Fitness Center

... anything in this zone will get you very close to Times Square, and my guess for this specific property would be the Club Quarters Opposite Rockefeller Center, but this room type is a little over your budget at $235/nite.

There are other options in the Downtown/Financial District which are not as close to Times Square and a little cheaper, but as noted above, more than double occupancy in NYC is often considered an upgrade and you'll likely pay a little more. Most of HOTWIRE's midtown offerings start in the $200 area.
