Hotwire Hotel: Has a Confirmed Hotwire Reservation ever been refused by the Hotel?

Hi,

 

I was just wondering if anyone has ever had a Hotwire confirmed reservation refused by a hotel due to any reason such as system glitch, etc.

 

The reason I ask is because I just got a confirmed reservation for a super exclusive 5 star hotel at a 96% discount using the secret hotel feature. Moreover, the cheapest published room price for this hotel is several thousand dollars per night. This is a hotel that is well known for never participating in discounts as it holds itself out as being extremely exclusive. Therefore, I'm somewhat nervous that there was some error involved. Although it was "somewhat" of a last minute booking, it's for the upcoming 4th of July weekend, which is typically a high occupancy weekend for hotels. I'm hesitant to contact the front desk and since no air travel is required am thinking of just showing up with the reservation confirmation. 

 

I don't want to post the details of the deal until I'm in the hotel room as to not "jinx" it. However, I will definitely post the results once everything is said and done. I would appreciate it if you could provide any insights or comments.

I was walked from the Residence inn by Marriot NY on my hotwire purchase. They said it was due to a glitch by Hotwire. They handed me a phone and told me to call Hotwire. Hotwire put me in a better hotel the W hotel for the same price.

 

Interesting. Did they say they could not find your reservation? Did you talk to a manager?

 

Glad you ended up in a good hotel with what sounds like low level of hassle. What was the price you managed to snag?

Good point jordansbulls, It's always a good thing to call the hotel and confirm the reservation.

 

But that doesn't exclude the possibility for being "walked". Which could happen if the hotel accidentally overbooked, some room(s) needed to be taken out of service (pipe broke and room is flooded), etc, etc.
