Hello,

Wife and I going to Vegas week of July 6-11th. Her work is paying for nights up to Friday morning so we need to book a hotel for Friday night.

We are staying at the TI, but hoping to stay somewhere nicer that last night. Looking to stay under $150 and in the north strip area. What hotel would I expect using priceline and what should my bidding strategy be with a budget of $150 a night?

I looked via HOTWIRE and found this hotel. Can you help me identify it?

North Strip area casino hotel - $118

Show 90% recommended

4 star

Business center   Casino   Fitness center   Free parking   Golf nearby   Internet access   Pool(s)   Resort   Restaurant(s)

Thanks

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

In terms of the 4* North Strip w/Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf this is a possible match for the SLS.

If you bid you cannot be guaranteed a casino unless the casino is specifically noted as a guaranteed amenity. For example, the Trump is a possibility if you bid 5* North.

When bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you bid.

You can use our Priceline Hotel List to see all hotels reported to the board in this zone and at this star rating, but keep in mind:

1) the comments at the top of the hotel hotel list

2) a casino is not a guarantee

3) the star rating you choose is the minimum that you're willing to accept, and your 4* bid could be upgraded to a higher rated hotel (such as the 5* Trump which does not have a casino and is located slightly off-strip)

Is a Casino a must have for this nite? If you need to have a casino then HOTWIRE or PRICELINE EXPRESS would be a better way to book and choose a hotel that show the casino amenity.

Thanks for the info. I've decided to bid via PRICELINE on a 4* hotel Strip Vicinity South. I looked at the list of hotels in this area for priceline and I'm comfortable with the list of hotels in this star range and area. My budget would be no more than $140 per night before taxes and fees.

What would be my initial bid? What about bidding strategy?

When bidding 4* in Las Vegas you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Strip South...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the info! so i have identified the following zones in Vegas where there are no hotels above 4*. If my first bid gets rejected, add one of these zones and re-bid, if rejected add another zone.

One more question... what should my starting bid be if i wanted to try for a 4.5*?

Boulder strip

Henderson

NW Las Vegas

Nellis – Las vegas Speedway

Yes, you have your re-bid zones correct, but always double check just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked.

While i think the above 4 strategy would have been successful last nite when posted, i think it will now take more (closer to, but still within, your $140 maximum bid).... however, a 4.5* will likely cost you substantially more ($200+)

If you want to bid 4.5* there are more re-bid zones... is $140 your maximum bid at the 4.5* level?

I was confused above as i was searching July 6-11 as per your first post and that is why i stopped the 4* bidding at $85/nite, but i see now that you only need the nite of July 10 (as your wife's office is taking care of the rest), it will likely take more than this.

I don't think you'll be successful for just the solo nite of July 10th (as rates often 2x-3x vs. midweek dates) but if you want to try:

When bidding 4.5* in Las Vegas you have NINE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4.5* Strip South...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $140

If the above is rejected and you want to try for a 4* up to $140 (where you have a bit more of a chance) you can use your FOUR re-bid zones and try:

Select 4* Strip South...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $140

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thank you so much for your help. After thinking it through, decided we wanted to stay in old Vegas since we have never stayed here. Saw the Golden Nugget was the only 4 star available in the area.

My initial bid was $70, then $80, then $85, and finally $90 was accepted and I got the Golden Nugget. Thanks for all of the help. Oh and I made sure to use the PRICELINE link from betterbidding.com.

So we changed it up a bit and decided to stay in Old Vegas since we never have stayed there before. Saw that the Golden Nugget was the only 4* in the area.

Started my bidding at $70, rebid $80, then $85, and finally $90 was accepted. Thanks for all of your help! I made sure to use the PRICELINE link from betterbidding.com
