Priceline Hotel: 3* Chicago Suburbs (Arlington Heights) Holiday Inn Mount Prospect-Chicago

I'm trying to book a hotel in the Chicago O'Hare - North area bidding for the hotel.  The date is June 24th for one night, two rooms.  I've tried three star from $50 to $60, and four star from $55 to $90 in $5 increments.  I've used all the tactics taught here to increase my bidding. Maybe I just need to wait until it is closer to the date?

Are you flying out of ORD or driving in and staying near ORD to explore the area? If the latter, I'd suggest other areas where you're more likely to get free parking.

We are driving, but meeting someone at the airport, and would like to be nearby in order to send them off the next day.  So any other ideas on how to get a better rate?

I was in Chicago last night and tried bidding last minute, no dice. Prices were so high, I made the long drive home instead

The prices are really firm right now because everybody is stuck at OHare due to the heavy storms, flooding & cancelled flights. Weather is clearing up, so prices should moderate soon as stranded visitors can leave

What would be your desired budget per room for this stay?

Personally, I'd suggest consideration of nearby Arlington Heights/Elk Grove or Schaumburg. ORD prices are a tad on the high side for these dates and if you do get a 3.5/4*, chances are fairly high that you'll have to pay for parking, whereas parking will most likely be free in nearby areas. It becomes whether or not Schaumburg/Arlington Heights on the map are a reasonable enough distance for you to stay vs paying a bit more for ORD.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Like Aaron suggested, there are some great deals near ORD. A quick look for your dates, shows a 2.5 star in Schaumburg PE Express 8+ rating for $50. If you have a car thats about as good as it gets...I would take a 2.5 in Schaumburg over a 3 around ORD anyday..and Schaumburg has the BEST Lou Malnatis deep dish pizza in the metro area(IMO)

Thanks for all the feedback.  I'll give it a try.  The biggest problem I have is that a former student of mine from China is flying in and it will be best if she can take a shuttle to the hotel.  We need to book the hotel for her and for us.  But I'll see what I can come up with in the area you both have suggested.

I attempted to get a hotel by bidding and went as high as $58 without success.  I finally opted to purchase the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals hotel they offered.  The price was $72

I checked the hotel's website and pre-paying would get you the same room at $127.  If you did not pre-pay it would be $139.

This hotel gets excellent reviews on TripAdvisor.  It ended up being in Mount Prospect and not in Arlington Heights, which is very unfortunate.  We were hoping for a hotel on route 90.  This will take extra time, but it does include an airport shuttle which will save some serious taxi dollars for our guest.
