Priceline Hotel: 4* San Francisco (Union Square West) Monaco San Francisco, a Kimpton Hotel

Hi!

I'm hoping to land a July 23-28 booking for a hotel in SF. My top choice is Hotel Tomo in Japantown, but it looks difficult to isolate since there are four other 3* listings. I can't go above $150. If I have to settle for another district or 2* property, so be it. Can you assist me with strategy?

Also, I noticed that two properties listed in the Marina District aren't even in SF: Inn of the Hills Resort and Y.O. Ranch Hotel.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I noticed that two properties listed in the Marina District aren't even in SF: Inn of the Hills Resort and Y.O. Ranch Hotel.

FIXED!! Thanks for letting us know!

For your upcoming San Francisco trip i think your budget is going to be a bit difficult. To get started you can give the following a try...

When bidding 3* in San Francisco you have ONE re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3* Japantown...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130

If the above is rejected wait 2 hours (or more) and use this link to re-access PRICELINE and try:

Select 3* Japantown...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $140

Thanks for your speedy reply. Let me clarify my request: my top pick is 3* Japantown. All of the 3* properties listed look really nice, especially Hotel Tomo. I'd also take 4* in SOMO or Finanical District, 3* in Marina, or 2* in USE.

I know my budget is restrictive, but I did see that someone got 4* SOMO for $148 and 4* Financial District for $95 within the past few months (unless I don't understand what I'm looking at). So I know it's possible! I don't mind spending some extra time to get what I want. Given this broader outline, can you suggest a strategy?

Thanks again!

Rates are date specific and i'm assuming the wins you saw at $148 and/or $95 are not for these same dates (and likely shorter stays and/or a Sunday nite and/or only weekend dates??)... your dates may (and likely based upon what i'm seeing) be during a higher demand period and therefore will require a higher rate.

Have you tried any of the bidding above yet? If you're looking to revise that bidding strategy, at the 3 star level, which zone(s) are you willing to accept?

Hi,

I decided to break my 5-day stay up in sections, so I could get better quality hotels. I don't mind moving if it's nearby. I scanned what was available on HOTWIRE for various dates within my range: July 23-28. When a 4 star hotel popped up for $139, I went back to Price.line to bid lower. My first bid of $120 was accepted, so I probably could have tried for lower! Oh well, this was my first time. The hotel looks terrific: Hotel Monaco. Now I'm looking to fill in the rest of my dates with equally fabulous properties!

Question: Is there a quick link for starting a new post or posting a win? It's not so intuitive.

Thank you for sharing your result with the board.

To report a win use the "Add Reply and Report Win" button in lower right corner (but it's gone now since it can only be used once and then it disappears... and we just used it to reflect your win of the Monaco).

For a new post just use the the "Ask a Question" button that can be find in the upper right under each state link.

Enjoy your stay.
