morganmorgan
I was bidding on 2 rooms - 4.5 star in central manhattan and switched to 4 star as no success up to $230 using zones. On the review page for 4 Star at $175, there was a new line on the taxes/fees page for Hotel Fee of $50. I have never seen the Hotel Fee line before...anyone know about it? Thanks, Morgan Link to comment
morganmorgan
Just tracking my bidding for others to have the info if it helps... 2 rooms PE/Hotwire 4.5* at $330 6/4 Decided to try 4.5*, as that gave me exclusions zones where the highest is 4* Started at $150 with my preferred zones around Madison SqWent $10 increments up to $230 using exclusion zones Went to 4* and this added a Hotel Fee of $50 - the zones selected did not change this Started at $120 and went up in $10 increments.I started with two of my preferred zones and added preferred zones as I rebid. I saved the two exclusion zones for the final two bids...stopped at $185/$210 with the fee I will play some more later... Link to comment

yellowdog
Thanx for using boards PRICELINE links! we are a party of 5 - 3 adults and 2 teenagersPlease note that PRICELINE and PRICELINE EXPRESS only guarantees double occupancy, after that is at the discretion of the hotel. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. What is your max budget before tax/fee's? Also, what zone(s) are you willing to stay in? Please mention the zones by PRICELINE name and not numbers. Yellowdog. Link to comment
yellowdog
...there was a new line on the taxes/fees page for Hotel Fee of $50. I have never seen the Hotel Fee line before...anyone know about it?This is fairly new for PRICELINE. It indicates that hotels in the zone your bidding on has resort fee's and the amount you see is the maximum fee you'll be charged if you get a hotel with resort fee. I hope this answer your question. thereuare
Is this for a pre/post-cruise stay OR are only passing thru and stopping here for the nite? If just passing thru, how are you arriving to the city (and if driving from which direction are you coming from)? Lastly, what are your needs for this stay, as i'm seeing quite a few decent options that are quite a bit cheaper than the bidding you have already done, and while they may not be in the zones or at the star levels you have already bid, they may represent a much better value and worth the trade-off for a one nite stay (where you likely won't be utilizing the room/hotel very much anyways) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. morganmorgan
We are heading to Washington DC for a week, but the Flight to NY was much cheaper and direct so we added a stopover in New York. We will be going out on Amtrak from Penn Station on Sunday at 5PM. I drew an arbitrary circle around Penn Station and figured the closer the better. I am very open to suggestions... Budget? $250 max per room with taxes would be nice Party size...Thanks for the reminder - The 13 Year old may be on the floor if we get stuck with one bed and can't sweet talk a roll away. Always be sweet at check-in, as they can make the stay good or bad. Not knowing NY at all, I picked the following areas.Madison Sq GardenTime SqMidtown EastMidtown WestEmpireChelseaGreenwich Village Link to comment

thereuare
Some of what i'm seeing: 4* MTC that looks like the Park Central Hotel for $126/nite (plus a $25 resort fee... still not bad at $150) 3.5* MTC (with na excellent 4.5/5.0 TA rating) for $166/nite... i'm guessing the Cassa Hotel 3.5* TS for $164/nite i'm guessing to be the Belvedere 4* MSG that looks like the Wyndham New Yorker for $180/nite (plus $25 resort fee)... this is a historic hotel with mixed reviews, but the location would be SUPER CONVENIENT for your Penn Station arrival and departure Let us know your thoughts on the above and we'll take it from there.
