ladybugsea
Looking at 4* San Francisco (Union Square East) 7/30-8/2 for 3 people. Under $200 (wanted $150 but after watching for a few weeks, I realize that will most likely not happen). Would also consider other areas. Any guesses for the following? Bidding helper has been showing me an error for full amenities for the past two days on two different computers. $196 4* USE 80% rec, 4/5 on TAPet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking(Nikko?) AaronJB
The Nikko has been seen with this amenity set previously, so that would be my guess in this case. yellowdog
Best guess would be Galleria Park. thereuare
A new amenity set for the Hotel Rex would be my best guess for this one. (even if not, viewing this property from the EASY VIEW tab at BiddingHelper.com shows this property has a 4.5/5.0 TA rating, so it should be a very nice and positive experince) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. ladybugsea
Thanks, I have a double room at the Hotel Rex reserved as my back up for $229. Link to comment
ladybugsea
Please help ID, I am thinking it is the Scarlet Huntington? 4.5* USW $187, 95% recommendedIndoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, In-room accessibility In the trip summary under 'room type,' there is a light blue link that says 'free cancellation,' but further down in the booking notes is says 'all bookings are final.' I have never noticed the free cancelation link before, is this just a mistake? Also the total price increased about $10 while I was looking at it, but the per night price did not change. Why would that happen? Link to comment
yellowdog
Yes, a guess would be Scarlet Huntington. But please note. The "last person got ..." message shown by HOTWIRE is in reference to the last person who won a hotel in that zone at that star rating... it doesn't apply to the amenity set of the current offer nor does it say anything about the current hotel offered. I have never noticed the free cancelation link before, is this just a mistake? No, HOTWIRE is trying this option on a trial basis for some hotels. Also the total price increased about $10 while I was looking at it, but the per night price did not change. Why would that happen?I don't have good answer for that... are you sure you didn't click the trip insurance button? Thank you for keeping us updated with what you decide. ladybugsea
Thanks, yes I understand 'the last person got' has nothing to do with the amenities of the property I am looking at. I'm pretty sure I didn't click the insurance button. The property has now gone up to $283 over the night. :( I was on the fence about booking because the Scarlet Huntington doesn't allow children under 16 in the pool (will be a big disappointment to my almost 11 year old!), but it was such a good deal. One thing I have learned is that a pool amenity in San Francisco does not necessarily mean it will be free or that your family will be allowed to use it. So that deal WAS cancelable? Interesting, wish I had booked it before waiting for your best guess! Will keep watching and update what I end up getting. Link to comment
thereuare
You can also use our RateDrop service to help you monitor rates for these dates in case the 4* hotel in this zone should drop in price (or monitor any other star rating and zones you're interested in) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. AaronJB
Are you still seeing this listing? I'm not seeing a 4* in this zone when searching for these dates with 2a/1c. Please keep us updated with what you decide. Also, are you looking for something in particular in terms of hotel? ladybugsea
Yes, I still see this listing. Not looking for anything in particular, have just missed out on the prices under $200 because they disappear so fast, and I like to get your best guess first. I have a cancelable backup for $229 so want to do better than that, and the Hotwire recovery fees bump the total price up a little bit. Link to comment
AaronJB
I'm seeing the 4* USW now when searching. I'd guess this may be the Marker with a slightly different amenity set. ladybugsea
Okay last time! $187 4.5* USE Boutique Hotel 90% rec, 4.5 TAPet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower I'm guessing this is the Palomar. My issue is I'm nervous of getting a room with one bed (this happened when I last used Hotwire in April). On the Palomar website, they only have a king room, and I called and they said a king will NOT accommodate 3, there is no room for a rollaway. Link to comment
yellowdog
Yes, my guess would also be Palomar. My issue is I'm nervous of getting a room with one bedI remember your NYC incident. But I have to say it's rare that we hear about problems like that. And you shouldn't let that get in your way to use HOTWIRE. On the Palomar website, they only have a king room, and I called and they said a king will NOT accommodate 3, there is no room for a rollaway. My guess is that they will move guests from a room with 2 queens to king room if they get a booking like yours Let us know what you decide. We ended up not using Hotwire, and used the backup booking I had made at Hotel Rex for $225 for two doubles. We had a great time in SF! thank you for your help! Link to comment
