Hotwire Hotel: 4* San Francisco USE 7/30-8/2

Looking at 4* San Francisco (Union Square East) 7/30-8/2 for 3 people.  Under $200 (wanted $150 but after watching for a few weeks, I realize that will most likely not happen).  Would also consider other areas.

Any guesses for the following?  Bidding helper has been showing me an error for full amenities for the past two days on two different computers.

$196 4* USE 80% rec, 4/5 on TA

Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking

A new amenity set for the Hotel Rex would be my best guess for this one. (even if not, viewing this property from the EASY VIEW tab at BiddingHelper.com shows this property has a 4.5/5.0 TA rating, so it should be a very nice and positive experince)

Please help ID, I am thinking it is the Scarlet Huntington?

4.5* USW $187, 95% recommended

Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, In-room accessibility

In the trip summary under 'room type,' there is a light blue link that says 'free cancellation,' but further down in the booking notes is says 'all bookings are final.'  I have never noticed the free cancelation link before, is this just a mistake?  Also the total price increased about $10 while I was looking at it, but the per night price did not change.  Why would that happen?

Yes, a guess would be Scarlet Huntington.

But please note. The "last person got ..." message shown by HOTWIRE is in reference to the last person who won a hotel in that zone at that star rating... it doesn't apply to the amenity set of the current offer nor does it say anything about the current hotel offered.

No, HOTWIRE is trying this option on a trial basis for some hotels.

I don't have good answer for that... are you sure you didn't click the trip insurance button?

Thanks, yes I understand 'the last person got' has nothing to do with the amenities of the property I am looking at.  I'm pretty sure I didn't click the insurance button.  The property has now gone up to $283 over the night.  :(  I was on the fence about booking because the Scarlet Huntington doesn't allow children under 16 in the pool (will be a big disappointment to my almost 11 year old!), but it was such a good deal.  One thing I have learned is that a pool amenity in San Francisco does not necessarily mean it will be free or that your family will be allowed to use it.  So that deal WAS cancelable?  Interesting, wish I had booked it before waiting for your best guess!  Will keep watching and update what I end up getting.

You can also use our RateDrop service to help you monitor rates for these dates in case the 4* hotel in this zone should drop in price (or monitor any other star rating and zones you're interested in)

Are you still seeing this listing? I'm not seeing a 4* in this zone when searching for these dates with 2a/1c.

Please keep us updated with what you decide. Also, are you looking for something in particular in terms of hotel?

Yes, I still see this listing.  Not looking for anything in particular, have just missed out on the prices under $200 because they disappear so fast, and I like to get your best guess first.  I have a cancelable backup for $229 so want to do better than that, and the Hotwire recovery fees bump the total price up a little bit.

Okay last time!

$187  4.5* USE Boutique Hotel 90% rec, 4.5 TA

Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

I'm guessing this is the Palomar.  My issue is I'm nervous of getting a room with one bed (this happened when I last used Hotwire in April).  On the Palomar website, they only have a king room, and I called and they said a king will NOT accommodate 3, there is no room for a rollaway.

Yes, my guess would also be Palomar.

I remember your NYC incident. But I have to say it's rare that we hear about problems like that. And you shouldn't let that get in your way to use HOTWIRE.

My guess is that they will move guests from a room with 2 queens to king room if they get a booking like yours
