cdgreg1
I am looking to book a room in Las Vegas for July 19-22. When looking at Priceline's Name Your Own Price tool, I see a 4.5 star hotel located on the north strip. Could this be anything other than The Mirage? If there is not a 4.5 star actually available will I be bumped up or down? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! When bidding on PRICELINE you have to be willing to accept any hotels in the zone at the star rating or higher that you choose. This is an important distinction as The Trump is also in the Strip North zone and it is possible that your 4.5 star bid could be upgraded to the higher rated 5 star Trump (or you could receive any other 'unknown' 4.5* hotel in this zone)... however, you'll never be downgraded to a lower rated hotel, so you wouldn't ever receive a 4 star hotel if you set your minimum star rating at 4.5*. Would the Trump be an acceptable outcome for you for this trip? What is your target budget per nite (before taxes/fees) for this trip? cdgreg1
I want to avoid The Trump. My budget is around $350 (maybe slightly higher) for my stay including resort fees. If Priceline would release a good promo code, I might be able to get The Venetian/Palazzo close enough to my budget. Link to comment
AaronJB
How about around $340 plus resort fees (around $75)? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Link to comment
cdgreg1
$415 is quite a bit over my budget. I will keep looking for now. Link to comment

cdgreg1
My question about the 4 star (potential MGM) is a Hotwire property. Link to comment
AaronJB
The Hotwire 4* South Strip for $43 would be a possible match for the Tropicana. cdgreg1
I went ahead and booked directly with The Mirage as price was less expensive than other sites I checked and can be cancelled without a fee. I will continue to watch PRICELINE that might allow me to get The Venetian/Palazzo for a similar price. Link to comment
