Priceline Hotel: 5* Frankfurt (South and Airport) Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel and Conference Center

When searching Priceline I see that there are 11 five star hotels in Frankfurt Main. For some reason when I look at regions there is nothing defined as airport. They seem to group central Frankfurt and airport under Frankfurt.

However, when I go to the "Make your own bid" there is an airport category in the region selection and the map indicates the area. When I returned to the 11 five star selections and looked at the map and I am pretty sure that only 2 five star hotels are in the airport region.

I am new to this and I just want to make sure that when I bid on the 5 star airport hotels that the winning bid would be the one of the two I found at or minutes from the airport. Thanks.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The 'retail' listings at PRICELINE (where the hotel name is shown before the purchase) use different zones than the 'Name Your Own Price' (bidding) side of PRICELINE, so you can't use the retail side to determine what you will get from the bidding side. However, the hotel you receive when bidding will be within the shaded boundary of the zone(s) on the bidding map that you choose to bid on.

Does that answer your question?

If you'd like help with a bidding strategy for this trip let us know the dates of your stay, the zones you're willing to accept, your desired star rating, and your maximum bid amount... we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Thank you admin.

If I understand correctly the retail list has eleven listings for the Frankfurt Main zone. Only two of these eleven retail listing fall into the "airport zone" when I go to the "make your own bid zone. This means that when I make my own bid for 5 star hotels in the Frankfort Airport area the only two hotels that will be considering my bid will be the Sherton Airport and Steigenberger Airport hotels. All other 5 star hotels in the retail listing are outside the airport zone. Correct?

I will be making my bid in 2 weeks and would appreciate any help. Should I start a new topic or continue here with details.

The 'retail' side of PRICELINE and the 'bidding' side of PRICELINE each use a different universe of hotels, so you can't use the retail side to determine what you will get on the bidding side. There is a LOT of overlap, but you can't consider the retail hotels being a finite list of what you may win when bidding.

For a bidding strategy just continue this thread once you're ready to begin bidding, then once you win a hotel use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of this page and the entire thread will automatically be moved to the correct section of the board (if necessary).

The bidding zone map defines what you could receive.  The flaw in the above logic is that there could be some other 5* hotel within the zone not on the Priceline retail listing.  As thereuare mentioned, "...the 'retail' side of Priceline and the 'bidding' side of Priceline each use a different universe of hotels".

I've been bidding for years for various locations and have a few times received entirely new hotels not on any previous reporting or listings.  Pleasant surprises, but surprises nonetheless.

Yes that's correct.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for all the help. Tax in it is $92 us. I first submitted at $70 with increments of $2 . Started with Airport only then added regions I knew did not have 5 star hotels so I could rebid right away.

Again thanks for the help Betterbidding. I will reward the Sheraton by eating at their restaurant and who knows, maybe have a nice German beer or two.
