This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board but I'd guess the Comfort Suites Michigan Ave.

Are you driving in? $300+ is nuts - while staying in the burbs isn't optimal, if you are driving you can stay someplace nice (3.5-4*) in the North burbs for $50-65 bucks. It just becomes the matter of having to travel downtown and back, but for that kind of price difference, I wanted to at least suggest that as an option. If this is of interest, let me know and I'd be happy to offer suggestions.

Yes, i agree the price is crazy. we are driving in for a couple of Cubs games, so anything you can suggest that we could public transport there would be much appreciated. i just really dont want to have to drive to wrigley and try to park, but train or cab or even bus would work for me! thanks for your help.

Staying downtown is definitely optimal, but as someone local to the area, I can't imagine spending $300+ (and that's just the room rate - factor in taxes and parking) for a 3* downtown, I'd just rather stay in the burbs and take the Metra in.

When I look for 2 adults for these dates, I see in the Northbrook area:

4.5* $69 Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Free Parking, Pet Friendly

-- Likely Westin North Shore. You would have to drive East to the Lake Cook Road Metra Station. Then you take the Metra downtown and then have to take the CTA train from downtown North to Lincoln Park.

4* $124 Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Golf, Free Parking, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly

-- Likely Renaissance North Shore. I'm not sure if it still does and you'd have to check hours of operation, but this hotel definitely did at least have a shuttle to the nearest Metra train station. If you took this Metra line, you would get off at Davis Street, Evanston, walk across the way to the CTA station and then take the "L" to Addison.

But oddly, the best option I'm seeing is actually on Expedia (please use the site's Expedia link if you go this route). The Hyatt Deerfield is showing as $79 and they are also showing a $20 food/beverage credit. If you can get that, that hotel is a couple of minutes drive away from the Metra station at Lake Cook Road. Then you take the Metra downtown and have to then take the CTA train North to Lincoln Park.

There are two Metra lines that run from this area to downtown. The line closer to the lake runs past Evanston and at Evanston you can switch to the CTA and then take that the remainder of the way to Wrigley. The Renaissance shuttle will likely take you to this line if that hotel is still providing a shuttle. My concern with this line otherwise is that I think finding parking (at least parking that is not permit) is going to be difficult at stations along this line.

The other line that is to the West (and closer to the Hyatt and Westin) goes downtown and you will have to then take the CTA North to Wrigley. The stations along this line are larger and have more in the way of parking. Parking may be a buck or two at these stations.

The Metra lines do not run after around Midnight.
