Hotwire Hotel: I'm trying to get the Hilton elara or a similar hotel without resort fees?

Does anyone know which one I should bid on for this? It can be either priceline or hotwire. I seen some bids for $42, i'm looking for something similar. Thanks.

You can't bid on or avoid a specific hotel when using PRICELINE You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select.

 

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

You can't compare rates since they are date specific. And $42 for a 4.5* hotel isn't the "normal" rate. it's a rate that you normally find for a very slow time or a single midweek night.

 

HOTWIRE is good with including information about resort fees. Do you see anything on HOTWIRE that is within your budget.

I want the Hilton for $40-$60 because resort fees are excluded. I find hard to bid on a hotel, and then not know how much the resort fees will be. How can I make sure I get a Hilton hotel? I wish I could bid on Vacation package.

July 6th- 9th is when I plan on staying. I want this hotel in particular because it excludes resort fees. What it be wiser to do a package deal? There was a page which showed the most recent bids that was accepted by hotel, but I can't find the link.

The Hilton has been seen on the board as a win very, very rarely. Additionally, as noted above, there is no way to bid on a particular hotel - one of the trade-offs for the discounted rates is the fact that you have to have some flexibility.

 

If you go with a vacation package for the Elara, my guess is that you're going to spend more on average per night than if you'd have just used one of the discount rate services to get a hotel + resort fee. On Hot.wire, if you click on the listing, you are told how much the resort fee will be approximately.

 

For example, I see a 4* in the North Strip on Hot.wire for $31 (the price you see may vary slightly) w/Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf as the amenities. This is likely the SLS. If it's the SLS, that has a $25 resort fee = $56.

The Elara falls under the strip South zone on PRICELINE's NYOP service. I believe it falls under Center Strip on HOTWIRE although it has not yet been reported to the board so no guarantee that it even participates with that service.

 

Additionally, where did you read that a "lot of people got the Elara for April"? Even if a lot of people report a particular hotel, that's no guarantee that you'll also get that hotel. Much like Vegas, bidding on a hotel is a roll of the dice.

This is why I suggested that you should go the HOTWIRE route. They are good with the resort fee information. And nearly every higher rated hotel in LV charge a resort fee today, it's difficult to avoid.

You can use our sister site ResortFee.com to search for your dates and then filter by hotels that don't have resort fees (and then sort by price from low to high if you'd like).

However, resort fees aside, what is it that you're looking for in a hotel for this stay? Have you ever been to Las Vegas before? What is your maximum budget per nite?

I've never been to Vegas before. I want a nice hotel with free WiFi and Jacuzzi tub. I don't want to spend more than $60 a night ( this is including resort fees) I would like some food and drink vouchers and maybe some "free play credits"

No way of guaranteeing that via the discount services. When you use PRICELINE and HOTWIRE, you are getting a discounted rate with the trade-off of not finding out the name of the hotel until after booking and not getting upgrades. You can talk to the hotel about things like vouchers, but there is no guarantee, especially when you are already getting a discounted room rate.

 

In terms of free wifi, you can look for a HOTWIRE listing with free wifi or a PRICELINE EXPRESS listing with free wifi. There is no way to guarantee a Jacuzzi tub. Unfortunately, with $60 and resort fees included you're not going to have a lot of options.

What is sls? I would like another hotel like the elara. I read they were a lot of wins reported in April. SLS looks to formal, and I don't I would be able to get a restful night's sleep. If it's $31 on hot wire, I probably can bet 20-25 on priceline right? Have you stayed there before? What's it like?

I think you need to realize that the 'new' Vegas is no longer cheap place it was 10+ years ago and decide what you really want for this trip...

Almost all hotels on the strip now charge resort fees. If you're primary concern is avoiding resort fees you'll most likely not be centrally located and will spend a lot of time (and possibly money in taxi/bus fare) traveling to the location you really want to be in order to explore and enjoy Vegas. Our site ResortFee.com will make it easy for you to find your non-resort fee options by searching there and then only selecting the checkbox "No Resort Fees".

With your $40-$60 all-in budget you will need to make some compromises... either in location, hotel quality, amenities in the room (ie- jacuzzi tub), etc. Using the discount services requires a degree of flexibility... if you have specific needs for this trip that are only available at a handful of hotels then the discount/opaque services are probably not going to be your best option for this stay.

Have you found the "Need Help" area on the top right corner of the board?  It works really well for answering lots of questions.

 

Or, if you look in the Hotel Lists up in the header, you can see all hotels members have reported getting via Price.line bidding, PRICELINE EXPRESS and Hot.wire.  The lists are by zone.

 

Or just search on "elara", using the white search box top right, setting the search to "Forums".   You'll get quite a few sites just mentioning Elara, but you will also get the reported wins and these will say the zone.  

 

You might find interesting the Hotel Reviews at the very end of this site.  Lots of betterbidding members have kindly taken the time to report back how they liked the hotels they have.  Or you can go to www.tripadvisor.com for hotel reviews from a more general population.
