thatguyryan
Hey Folks, Looking for a 3.5* or better hotel in NYC for June 18 - 22. Prefer to be more or less centrally located although the Financial District is OK if I have to but not up north by Columbia. Mainly would like to be Midtown, Empire, Chelsea, LES etc. Any help with a bidding strategy would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! :) Link to comment
yellowdog
Welcome to BetterBidding :) What is your max budget/night before tax/fee's? Let us know and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Yellowdog. Link to comment
thatguyryan
I'm probably delusional but $100-120? The cheaper the better of course. :) If it goes into the $130+ range I would just book using hotwire as some hotels are already in that range. Link to comment
thereuare
Mainly would like to be Midtown, Empire, Chelsea, LES etc.To avoid any confusion, please list the zones that you're willing to accept, by PRICELINE name, and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. However, i will add that the least expensive 3.5* or better i'm currently seeing on HOTWIRE is in the East Village-Lower East Side zone at $145/nite (nothing 3.5* or higher at $120 or less in Manhattan) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. thereuare
As i'm not seeing anything below $145 that meets your criteria, i went up to $130 but you can of course stop at whatever amount you'd like. When bidding 3* in NYC you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. thatguyryan
Wow, thank you for that extensive list. Is this a template I could use for a 3.5 or 4* hotel as well while moving the price up as well? Link to comment
thereuare
NOTE that when you bid for a 3* hotel it is the minimum star rating that you're willing to accept... with the bids above PRICELINE will also check for higher star rated hotels that would be willing to accept your bid price. What do you want to try first... the 3* above or a different star level? If bidding a different star rating what is your maximum bid at each level? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. yellowdog
Please keep all posts in the same thread since posts are for the same stay. Also please confirm that you new dates are June 19 - 22. For all hotels, I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post. HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process. Please run a new search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities. Then copy and paste the amenities, as well as the price, in a reply to this thread and we will then have a look at this offer. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Yellowdog. Link to comment
thatguyryan
My post in the hotwire help section disappeared....wut in the heck? I was using the post as a reference to what I was looking at so now I have no idea what hotels I wanted to identify. Do you know who I can contact about this? It was obviously deleted even if it was a hotwire-related post. Seems odd. Link to comment

yellowdog
MY post in the hotwire help section disappeared....I have merged your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE threads. Look at posts #13 and #15 in this thread. Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. thereuare
I decided to stick with the hotwire approach for now. Did you try either of the two bidding strategies offered above?
