Lokoseena
Hi, We will be in Chicago this weekend from the 15th-19th of May 2015. I'm looking at spending $200/night and all I can seem to find is a 2 star in Millenium Park on Hot.wire and a 1 star on Price.line. I imagine these are the Travelodge. We will not have a car and were looking to stay right in the action downtown. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! If you're not aware (or maybe this is the reason for your trip), the National Restaurant Association convention is one of the largest conventions of the year in Chicago and is taking place during these dates. Are you willing to stay at a 1star/2star hotel for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. AaronJB
As noted, this is one of the biggest conventions of the year and getting anything downtown is going to be difficult. If you were driving, then you could stay in the suburbs and take the Metra train in. Otherwise, if you have to stay downtown it becomes a matter of paying a fortune for the Travelodge, which I wouldn't recommend. You can also use our Rate.Drop free service to get alerts on price declines, but unfortunately the way these dates are I wouldn't expect much in the way of declines (if any) and it could also go the other way (even less availability of what's left.) Lokoseena
Thanks for the feedback. No we are are not there for the conference. Looks like a 2.5 for $176 in the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals opened up for our dates which would be the Best Western or the Congress Hotel. What would be the bidding strategy at this point? thereuare
I see this offer, but when i click on it i get a message that the offer is no longer available... if you're still seeing this one are you able to click-thru and get to the next booking page? If so, how high are you willing to bid before taking the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer? If not, how high are you willing to bid for a 2.5* hotel? Also, please include all zones that are acceptable so that we can increase the number of bidding opportunities available. AaronJB
If I search for 5/15-18 ONLY on HOTWIRE, I see a 3* in the Downtown-MP-GP area for $101 (you may see a slightly different price) with Restaurant, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry -- This hasn't been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess the Travelodge or Congress would be possibilities. I really, really would not recommend either of those properties for $200 - really kind of the definition of paying a lot for a little. I wouldn't recommend these hotels in general, but this is just a very expensive period. So, that would take care of the first three nights. Unfortunately, the last night is problematic. I see what appears to be a brand new 3* hotel/hostel for $236 on Expe.dia, an upgraded Lake View room at the Swiss for $389 (which can be cancelled via Expedia), what appears to be the Allerton on HOTWIRE for $341 (not a great hotel for the money and I think the Swiss Lake View would be more hotel for the money plus the Swiss could be cancelled if a better deal came along, but the potential Allerton is an option) Let me know if you have any questions before booking.
