Hi,

We are looking for hotel identification or suggestion for a nights stay near the hyatt regency chicago for 2 adults and a kid. My spouse has some work on the 11th very near there and id prefer a place she could quickly walk to such as the hyatt, swissotel, fairmont, radisson blue. The hyatt and swissotel are sold out. I have a backup at sheraton for around 200 (including taxes). I came across a few choices on hotwire that im trying to identify:

1. 4.5* Love it, 95% recommended for $100:

Business center, Fitness center ,Internet access, Pet friendly, Restaurant(s), Smoke-free rooms

Accessibility:

    Accessible for visually impaired
    Accessible for hearing impaired
    Accessible path of travel

2. 4.5* $167 or 107 (hotwire easy tab on the bidding helper site says 107 as HOTWIRE BOUTIQUE HOTEL): 85% recommended:

Boutique hotel, Business center, Internet access, Pet friendly, Restaurant(s), Spa services

Accessibility

    Accessible bathroom
    Roll-in shower

(i presume this is the Burnham)

Interestingly on biddinghelper under hotwire easy tab this is listed as 107, while after the usual clicking of the HOTWIRE link on the page (not the hotwire option under bidding helper) i came up with something very similar costing 167. The hotwire option of bidding helper gave me no results. P.S. I am using firefox but may have some underlying add ins.

3. 4* $135: 85% recommended

Business center,
  Fitness center
  Indoor pool(s)
  Internet access
  Pet friendly
  Pool(s)
  Restaurant(s)
  Self-service laundry
  Smoke-free rooms

Thanks for your assistance.

I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to each of these listings, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above?

Here is what i'm seeing when searching for your dates:

4.5 star for $101:

Pet Friendly

Smoke Free

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Blind Accessible

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Handicapped Parking

Roll-in Shower

... best guess here would be the Blackstone Renaissance

4.5 star for $107/nite:

Pet Friendly

Boutique

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Spa

Bathroom Accessible

Roll-in Shower

.... the Hotel Burnham would be my guess for this one

I'm not currently seeing a 4 star hotel offered for your dates in either tab.

For future searches/bookings you can do the following to ensure you're seeing the complete list:

1) use the EASY VIEW tab of our BiddingHelper.com and click the green 'See All Amenities' button

OR

2) search HOTWIRE (or use the HOTWIRE tab at BiddingHelper.com) and...

  • click the offer
  • on the next page click the BOOK NOW link
  • in the TRIP SUMMARY box click the 'See more' link at the end of the amenities

Keep in mind that the way that the zones are structured in downtown Chicago, the Mag Mile-RN area actually gives you a somewhat better chance of finding something near the Hyatt versus finding something in the downtown-MP-GP zone, which extends to the far South end of the Loop (see the Blackstone Renaissance.)

When searching for 2a/1c for 5/10-11, I see:

A 4.5* in the Mag Mile-RN area w/Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Pet Friendly for $111. You may see a slightly different price.

-- I'd guess this is the Westin River North. If so, not that far from the Hyatt and a really, really nice hotel.

3.5* Mag Mile-RN Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business $76 (again, you may see a slightly different price)

-- Likely the Doubletree Mag Mile. 2 short blocks North of the Sheraton.

4* Mag Mile-RN Boutique, Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa, Pet Friendly $84

-- Likely the W Lakeshore, which is not far from the Sheraton location, either.

Thank you both for the replies and researching the matter

Yes, there seem to be more hidden amenities under the green tab.

When i checked just now, there is a 4* for 103 as follows:

Pet friendly
    Indoor pool(s)
    Smoke-free rooms
    Fitness center
    Pool(s)
    Restaurant(s)
    Business center
    Self-service laundry
    Internet access
    Accessible for visually impaired
    Accessible for hearing impaired
    Accessible path of travel
    In-room accessibility
    Accessible bathroom
    Accessible parking
    Roll-in shower

Any ideas which one this could be?

Thanks AaronJB on the suggestion of the rivernorth section. Hotwire's rivernorth is much smaller than the priceline one so thats a good point as I was also looking at priceline express but the amenities are few to guess from.  I was looking at the hotwire downtown MP GP region as there are 4 hotels just south of the river (swissotel, fairmont, radisson, fairmont) in a close pocket and was hoping to get one of those as she would walk to the place.

In the Hotwire rivernorth portion i also see the following:

4.5* $96

Boutique hotel
    Smoke-free rooms
    Fitness center
    Restaurant(s)
    Business center
    Internet access

I presume this is the palomar? That would be a little further.

Lastly i noticed that hotwire indicates that the last person got this hotel (eg the felix for $75 with Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access
Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired ,Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible,  Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower). Is this response typical and accurate?

thanks again

Please include the zone when listing the amenities to make it easier for us to find the same hotel among the offers when replicating your search. I assume this one is in the Downtown-Millennium Park-Grant Park zone? If so... best guess for this one would be the Hilton Hotel and Towers.

The "Last person got ___" information is in reference to the last person who bought a hotel at this star rating in the zone, it is NOT necessarily in reference to the hotel or amenity set currently being offered. If you'd like help with this property please clarify which zone this offer is located in.

Personally, the Palomar for under a hundred would be something that I wouldn't think twice about. It's exceedingly easy to walk to the Hyatt from there, but that hotel is RIGHT by a subway station, plus tons of restaurants nearby in the River North area.

Thank you. I didnt mention the zone, since I was continuing the conversation and replying to your part of the message but should have quoted the part. Will keep that in mind for future. Thanks

Thanks. Yes but I am trying to be very near to her work as my wife is not keen on walking much and is unfamiliar with chicago. We dont plan to go out much given the little ones. The four south of the river and the sheraton are ideal. I will keep checking HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS and if everything fails, will hold onto my back up hotels that I had booked much earlier. thanks for your suggestions again.

I definitely understand not walking far, but I am really very familiar with the city and I'll note that there is a short-cut from the Palomar. The Palomar is on State/Illinois. Walk a block East on Illinois to Wabash. Walk a little bit South on Wabash and you get to a bridge over Hubbard Street. On the NE corner of that point there is a little walking bridge that goes a couple of blocks East to Michigan Ave. Once you get to that point, it's just South over the Michigan Ave bridge and the Hyatt is practically right there.

The other issue becomes this: if you're seeing the Palomar for $96 and you're seeing other hotels for noticeably more expensive that may be just a little closer to the Hyatt, you can use the savings for cab rides - it would be a VERY quick cab ride from the Palomar to the Hyatt.

You can also use our sister site RefundableRates.com to see if there are any better rates near your desired location. As well, for the hotels you have as a back-up, our our RateDrop service to monitor rates for your dates and get an alert if any of them drop in price (so you can cancel and re-book at the lower rate)
