lkctgo
Hi,I am trying to book hotels near the theater district/times square in NYC from July 17th to July 22nd (a total of 5days). But I would be okay with anything between the chelsea area to the midtown area.I am staying with my family, so I would need a hotel room that accepts 3 guests (all adults). The minimum quality of hotel I would wish to accept is 3.5stars. But I'd prefer 4stars and up.How much should I bid for PRICELINE? I know they do not indicate for up to 3 guests, so I must risk calling up the hotel to arrange a 3rd guest bed (How much additional would that be? Would it be possible in general (or is it lucky if you are able to do it?)Or would Hot.wire be better? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Please confirm exactly which zones would be acceptable (where you would be willing to stay anywhere within the zone.) Also, what would be your desired budget per night? Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay. lkctgo
Hi Aaron,Using Price.line's map, I hope to stay at Times Square - Theatre District, Madison Square Garden - Convention Area or the Empire State Building Area. I am okay with staying at Midtown west or the Chelsea area, if it is much cheaper.Pricing-wise, I'm looking at 175-200 including tax? Is that too much/little? The express deals are showing me approximately those prices and lower for 4star hotels in this area! Link to comment
AaronJB
If you are a party of three, in NYC I would recommend HOTWIRE, as if you bid on PRICELINE in NYC you are almost certain to end up with a room with 1 bed. The other option would be PRICELINE EXPRESS and looking for a listing with bed choice, then clicking on the listing and looking to make sure there is an option with two beds. I'm seeing some promising listings on HOTWIRE when searching for 3 adults, but they are around $200-225+ tax. Are you seeing any listings on PRICELINE EXPRESS of interest in your desired budget with bed choice? If so, please provide the zone, amenities, price and star rating and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID the listing. lkctgo
Hi Aaron,I'm looking at Hot.wire as advised, and saw this 4* hotel on HOTWIRE for the dates 17-22 july.It says it is an Empire state Building area Boutique Hotel. It's 204 per night + Tax.Complimentary: free internet. Amenities: Pet Friendly, Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center and Self-Service Laundry.Accessibility: Wheelchair Accessible Bathrooms.Which hotel could it possibly be? AaronJB
This listing hasn't been ID'd/reported to the board. The Carlton with a new amenity set would be a guess, but I'm definitely not certain and this may be something else. In any case, there is a 4/5 tripadvisor rating showing on the detail page for this rating, so the mystery property does get very good reviews. thereuare
Are you now willing to pay ~$200/nite before taxes/fees? If so, there is this 4* hotel in the MTC zone for $203/nite with: Free Internet Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible ... more importantly this property has a 4.5/5.0 TA rating, my guess here would be The Jewel Does this work for your needs? Can you please add your win(s) to the board (each as a NEW TOPIC) so that others will be aware of your purchases when searching the topic titles on the board and in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. In your post please include the star rating, city, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite, dates of your stay and amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view all of this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.
