Shombolar
When I booked originally on April 16, the hotel didn't have a "recommended" percentage, but said "Still gathering reviews." Since the Virgin Hotel Chicago opened just two months ago, and was the only new 4* hotel in the Loop/Theater District, I assumed I'd be getting the Virgin (gee, that sounds funny), and sure enough... Rooms look fresh and fun, location is great and I think I got a very good deal for a June weekend. And the "recommended" percentage is now 100%. Amenities listed: Free Internet, fitness center, restaurant(s), Internet access, spa services For some reason, Hotwire doesn't list the Virgin as pet-friendly, which it most assuredly is -- the hotel even has statues of dogs outside the designated pet-friendly rooms. I'm happy with the deal. Has anyone else stayed there yet? Link to comment

Shombolar
Just got back. Very happy with the value — the hotel is immaculate and the location is ideal. For those flying in and looking to save money (like me), it's an easy walk from either the Blue Line (O'Hare) or Orange Line (Midway) stops, which can save you more than $40 each way from the airport. The hotel also has very reasonably priced restaurants and real-world prices on its minibar items: $1 for a candy bar or a Coke, for instance. No "service charge" for room service; tip included. This is probably not the hotel for kids — it's colorful, but there's nothing for them to do. For adults, it's great. I'd particularly recommend the hotel for solo women travelers — you need your room key to activate the elevator (it's a wireless chip), and the rooms are split in two with a sliding door between the bed chamber and the entry/closet/makeup table/bathroom. The sliding door also can be locked and has a peephole, so you could order room service in privacy. A nice deal all the way around. Link to comment
