Welcome to Betterbidding.

I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOT.WIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

If you repeat your search using our Bidding.Helper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above?

Thank you for using the board's HOT.WIRE or PRICE.LINE links to start your purchases and searches.

The Trump hotel seems to be a little bit "to north" for us and they have only one pool. We don't need a casino hotel, can be a hotel or resort, but close to the strip and when possible, a few pools for the kids. Do you know Vegas? Can you recommend something?

I stayed a few days in the Excalibur (room was ok, maybe the renovated ones), maybe I take this again, because the have a few pools and it's located near the strip.

Thanks a lot,

Harry

I am very familiar with Vegas...

The issue Trump is necessarily too far North, but more so too far West

There is a very different experience at staying at one of the 5* hotels vs. The Excalibur, so i think first you need to determine what it is exactly that you want from this trip. Is a 'nice' hotel the primary objective... or is a pool for the kids the primary objective? (or something else??)

As well, how old are your kids, and more importantly, what is your budget? (per nite before taxes/fees)

Hi,

the kids are 16 and 13. Main goals for the trip in vegas are:

- near to the strip (we want to see a show and  have the strip in walk distance), so I'm looking for strip north, center or south

- nice pools (to relax during the day)

- with resort fee and tax the North Strip hotel for $82/day comes to $395 for three days, the excalibur is $360 for three days in total

Cause of the age of the kids, it's not important to have a casino hotel, maybe resort or hotel is better with kitchenette or apartment hotel. But casino hotel is no obstacle.

Do you've any ideas?

Best regards,

Harry

P.S.: We are on a trip for 3 weeks throught the west, we need a lot hotels more...

Harry,

Its been a while, but I stayed with my granddaughter at the MGM Grand.  It is a 4* hotel.  She lived in the pool most of the day.  Loved it.  Particularly in Las Vegas, 4* hotels are very nice, and the pools wonderful.   Perhaps comparable to some 4.5* and 5* European hotels.

There also are lots of things fun for kids to do.  The Bellagio Fountains, the evening Fremont Street Light show, Ethyl M. candy factory tour (nearby Henderson), the M&M store,  the Big Apple Roller Coaster at New York New York,  etc.  Wander though the Luxor for a peak at things Egyptian, or the Venetian for things Italian.   Search on "Las Vegas kid friendly" to find some more.

The various free transportation options can be fun for kids too - trolley, monorail, tram, etc.  Especially if it is hot outside and you've already walked enough.

To feed those teenagers, there are grocery stores close to the strip.  Search on "las vegas grocery store near the strip".  Even if the hotel you get doesn't have a kitchenette, it will most likely have a refrigerator and a coffee maker.  Might even have a microwave.

Most Las Vegas Strip hotel rooms don't have microwaves, kitchenettes, or even coffee makers... hotels want you out of your room. Even if you are only walking to the cafe to get a cup of coffee, there is a chance you will stop at a table game or throw a few dollars into a slot machine on your way.

Not sure how long ago you were in Vegas but your kids are probably 'beyond' The Excalibur, which in my opinion is geared towards younger children, not to mention there are better hotels/deals on the strip.

Are you willing to spend more than the $82/nite for the (guessed) Trump... or are you trying to keep it within this budget? What looks like the Palazzo is offered for $108/nite and is worth the extra $25/nite, imo. It is a large, over-sized room (good given there are four of you), a good location on the strip, and is a 'true' 5 star property.

Romelle and Admin, thanks a lot for the informations you gave, very useful, I love this forum...

@Romelle: The kids recommendatiosn are fantastic, we will do a few of these things.

@Admin: It's no problem, to spend $25 more, if it's worth the money and I think the pallazzo is it definetly. But I can't find it for the date I'm looking for at Strip North and I must use Hotwire instead of Priceline, because we're four, right? Do I have to check the offers and wait? I had a look at there website and they offer there rooms starting at $159 (but with breakfast), did you mean this?

Using the BiddingHelper.com for 6/16-6/19, 2adults/2children, in the 'regular' HOTWIRE tab there is a 5* hotel offer in the Strip North zone for $108/nite (your rate may differ by a few dollars up or down). To see the full amenities for this offer do the following:

  • click the offer
  • on the next page click the BOOK NOW link
  • in the TRIP SUMMARY box click the 'See more' link at the end of the amenities
You should see:

Free Parking

Free Internet

Resort

Suite

Casino

Fitness

Pool

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Golf

Tennis

Spa

Blind Accessible

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Handicapped Parking

Roll-in Shower

... best guess for this offer would be the Palazzo.

Are you able to see this one using the method(s) above?

Oops - I was speaking based on general US hotel experience and exactly one trip to Las Vegas.  Ignore me and listen to thereuare on this one.

But I really did the kid friendly stuff there with a granddaughter.
