i have bidden my first bid in Buffalo. i will go on to bid NYC

We are new comers in US. My wife and i have a 5 years old boy,so i need a safer area and  would like to live in midtown(not edge of Mahattan island)

is there any suggested areas? Just now i think midtown east is fit for me.

The most deciding factor in regards to what will be possible is your budget... how much are you expecting to pay per nite (before taxes/fees)?

Note that this is the start of 'high season' for NYC. Also, at the 4* level in the MTE zone is the One UN New York which is fairly east in the zone and about a 15 minute walk to the subway, which as per your comments above seems like this is one that you would be hoping to avoid.

I'm not sure where you are getting those possibilities. While those are possibilities, they are definitely not the only possibilities. You can see the list of hotels reported to the board here: Priceline Hotel List New York. Those are only the ones reported to the board, more can possibly be reported at any time.

Are you okay with any of the possible hotels at the star rating you choose in the zone/s you pick? If so, which zones would be acceptable and what would be your desired budget per night/star rating?

i saw the friend mplsben bid a 3* hotel in time square.

i said the Night hotel is possible and he bid the Night hotel,so maybe i am right.

i am looking for a 4* hotel in empire state building area now.

now the express deal is 226(24off),i guess it would be Shelburne.

is this hotel good for a family with a 5 years boy. the room is small or enough for us?

I understand how you think. It might be that this "strategy" works a few times but it's not working in the long run.

Please list the amenities if you would like a second opinion.

I'm sure thereuare will comment if the Shelburne would be suitable

Anytime you use bid on PRICELINE in NYC and need more than double occupancy you are taking a chance as a high percentage of rooms only have one bed, many don't have a sofabed nor can accommodate a rollaway, and rooms with two beds are often considered to be upgrades.

If you want to ensure accommodations for your entire family a better option would be to use HOTWIRE and search for 2adults/1child OR use PRICELINE EXPRESS where the bed choice indicates more than one bed in the room (or indicates the room has a sofabed)

What is your maximum budget per nite for this stay and what is it that you're looking for in a hotel?

i understand what u said about the one/two beds.

i am afraid that the hotel give me a queen bed(the holiday inn express in San diego gave me a queen bed),the king size i think is ok for my family.

now i consider the Wall street and Empire state building zone.my budget is under 1000$ for 4n include tax and fees. i prefer location rather than hotel Brand.i don't have a decision because there are 50 days before i go to NYC.

i find a 4.5* hotel is listed in Express ,i think it is W hotel in Wall street zone.

how about this one compared with Shelburne hotel in Empire building area

thank u

As you've had a bedding problem previously, and the occupancy/number of beds is more of an issue in NYC than just about any other place in the country, why continue down the same path which caused an issue for your previously? Why not use PRICELINE EXPRESS (where two beds or 1bed+sofabed is shown) OR HOTWIRE for 2adults/1child?

If you were heading to Orlando, Disneyland, etc. where hotels are more set-up for families and have a high percentage of rooms with two beds it would be a different situation, but in NYC the safest option would be PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE.

i don't have a decision because there are 50 days before i go to NYC.

We' would be happy to help with general zone/location questions, but please refrain from asking for specific hotel advise until you have made a decision as far as which zones you want to stay in and are ready to move forward and commit to a purchase. Researching hotels can be a time consuming pricess, and if you intend to wait until closer to your stay to make a purchase, it's not useful to research individual properties at this time since what is currently offered (and their prices) may not be the same hotels (and prices) that are offered once you're ready to make your purchase.

In this regard i'll add that Downtown-Financial is do-able at the right price, but 'midtown' (MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, Chelsea) would all be more centrally located and better for the typical visitor (unless you have specific reason to stay in the Downtown zone and/or have lots of activities planned there)

Let us know how we can be of further help and once you're ready to move forward.
