kafanning05
Planning a cubs game for a bachelor party on this weekend. Dont care about pool, fitness, etc. but would like a nice place to lay down for the night. What are my options for these districts? Anyone have any successes? Any events that will drive the price up? When would be the best time to name my own price? Realistic winning bid? Link to comment
yellowdog
Welcome to BetterBidding! We need a little more information to help you. What is the actual date(s) for this stay. How many rooms/how big is your party. What is your max budget before tax/fee's? Please note that PRICELINE and PRICELINE EXPRESS only guarantees double occupancy. With HOTWIRE can you search for a quad room. HOTWIRE guarantees sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search... this often means two beds in the room, but the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc. You can see all reported wins at boards Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins There's no best time to bid. Everything is about supply and demand. Please read this link:Should i Bid Early or Close to Arrival Date Let us know and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Yellowdog. Link to comment
AaronJB
The note that I'll make about the Lincoln Park area is that it's not seen as a win that often from the standpoint of, there's maybe 8 hotels (3-4 indie boutiques, a Days Inn, the Hotel Lincoln and a Best Western in all within the zone, which results in less in the way of discounts in comparison to the more heavily populated downtown zones. Once baseball starts, this can sometimes be more true as a lot of people coming in for the games do stay at these hotels, especially the Best Western. On the flip side, Lincoln Park is a great area, with some terrific sights (Zoo), a lot of great restaurants and cool shops. It's also not far a trip from downtown. In terms of where to pick, it all depends on the date/s of travel as pricing is so date-specific. If you don't stay in Lincoln Park, it's worth heading up there. AaronJB
Unfortunately, these date/s are busy/expensive. When I search for four adults, I'm seeing (you may see slightly different prices): 3.5* Loop $115 Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Pet Friendly-- Not yet ID'd/reported to the board, but likely an upgraded La Quinta Loop at 3.5* vs 3* last time it was reported to the board. Not exactly the best option for a bachelor party, but free breakfast for everyone and the most reasonable option downtown. 4.5* McCormick Place $131 Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Wheelchair Accessible.--- I'd guess the Hyatt McCormick has been upgraded to 4.5*. This is NOT a convenient location, there's nothing much around and you will have to taxi to get anywhere. However, cheapest 4* option. 4* Mag Mile-RN $183. Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower. --- This amenity set would be a potential match for the Hotel Chicago. While unfortunately over your desired budget, if this is the Hotel Chicago, good choice for a bachelor party and great location in terms of restaurants and nightlife nearby. kafanning05
Priceline shows a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $107 in the millennium area. Any idea on what hotel that would be? Link to comment
yellowdog
Please list the star rating and the amenities PRICELINE EXPRESS associates with the hotel you're looking at and we'll be happy to have a look at this. We need to know this so we know that we're looking at the same hotel. Also, did you search for two rooms? Please note that PRICELINE and PRICELINE EXPRESS only guarantees double occupancy, after that is at the discretion of the hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Yellowdog. Link to comment
AaronJB
If you mean the 4* w/fitness, business for $107 in that zone, that amenity set has been reported to the board with the Hyatt but pretty much every hotel at that star rating in that zone has those amenities so it's possible that it may be something else not yet reported to the board. An issue is that PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed, double occupancy, so there's a risk you could have a problem with a party of four. Some PRICELINE EXPRESS listings do offer bed choice, but this one unfortunately does not. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. kafanning05
I found a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for Millennium,Loop, and Grant Park. 3* $119/night w/ bed choice. Amenities=Pool, business center, restaurant, pets, fitness center, free wifi, free breakfast. 8+ guest rating. Seems like a great deal. Anyone help identify this hotel? There is also a 3.5* in North Mich/River North. Amenities=Pool, restaurant, business and fitness center and free wifi 8+ guest rating. Any id on this hotel? Link to comment
thereuare
Best guess for the 3* Grant Park property would be the La Quinta Inn and Suites Chicago Downtown. For the 3.5* River North property my guess would be the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza (but note that no Bed Choice is offered for this property, at least note on my own search) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB
If you could get the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, would be a better option than the LQ. The LQ has breakfast, but the Holiday Inn's a better location plus there is the chance - given where it is - that you get a decent view at the HI. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
kafanning05
I took the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $119. Turns out the La Quinta downtown. Im happy with the deal. kafanning05
Can anyone help me with parking? Best deal? We just want to park and leave it, we will walk or taxi everywhere. Link to comment
thereuare
AaronJB has some suggestions in this Chicago Parking Tips thread which should get you started ('general' lots near the end of the post)... but i'm sure he will give some more specific suggestions in relation to this specific hotel once he sees this thread. Have a great trip. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
AaronJB
There's going to be quite a few Standard Parking-style garages nearby, but the city garages (Millennium Park/Grant Park garages) will likely be a little cheaper. Let me know if you have any city questions. Enjoy your stay. Link to comment
