Need help IDing this 3.5* in Theatre District for $154, April 29-May3. 2 adults

Amenities

Business center

Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.

  Fitness center

  Internet access

  Smoke-free rooms

Accessibility -Accessible path of travel

In-room accessibility

Notes say: Book soon! The last person got the The Belvedere Hotel! (which I've stayed in and love, but it's not a 3.5*)

I can't reserve until Friday - and am thinking of Price.line bidding, but clicked on your HOTWIRE link to check what the going rates are.

We have a Holiday Inn back up reserved for 326.52 (that's average for all days, taxes included)

The "Last person booked...." information is in reference to the last purchase of a hotel at this star rating in the zone, not necessarily the underlying hotel currently being offered.

In this case, the listing would be a possible match for the Row.

I'm thinking it's the One UN which is terribly far away from a Subway...not crazy about that. We'd like a 4 or 3.5* near a Subway and mid-Manhattan...if possible. The One UN is the only one on your list that lists a pool as an ammenity (actually, your list says it has a poo, which gave me a junior high school chuckle).

Should I ask for a Priceline strategy here or the Priceline thread? I know we will take what we get, but you guys have never steered me wrong. We always use your Hot.wire and Price.line links. Last time, you pointed me to a Hotwire offer that was fantastic that didn't come up for me -- it was $131 and the Tryp by Wyndham on 35th Street...so if you see something I'm missing, that would be great too.

If I can ask here for the Priceline strategy: We'd like MTE, MTW, HK, TS, ESB, MSG 4* strategy up to $190/night.

MUCH THANKS!

I'd agree that the best guess for the 4* MTE property above would be the One UN New York.

HOWEVER, if you're hoping to avoid this hotel, how do you intend to do so if including it as an acceptable zone in your 4* bidding strategy above... should be exclude this zone for your bidding? Also, note that the only 'known' 4* hotel in the HK zone is the Ink48, which is a great property with great reviews, but it too is located it bit far from the subway... would this be an acceptable outcome and should we include/exclude this zone from your bidding? (ALSO: note that current the The Row is 4 star rated by PRICELINE, so the above would also apply to this property and the Times Square zone)

Also, you may want to consider Chelsea as an acceptable zone as well... a few hotels can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway, but this is a hot area right now so many still consider it to be quite desirable (but ultimately depends upon your plans/needs while you're in town)

Based upon the zone information i've added please confirm your acceptable zones and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.

I think I'm being snobbish about the Row -- it used to the be Milford Plaza, yes? And was none so good? I suppose it's changed and we may like it, we've never stayed there I just seem to remember we booked it back in the day and then read the reviews and YIKES!

How about the strategy leaving out HK, MTE and Chelsea?

Well...we'll still try for a 4* up to $190 and book the 3.5* you recommend if it turns up nothing!

Yay! And thank you for your help and advice. Will always use your links.

If you can find something that is bid-free on Priceline or some trick with Hotwire I didn't find (like last time, we found that hotel with 3 people, even though we were only 2), I'd appreciate it.

Thank you so much for your help!

Star ratings are subjective, and the reviews for the Belvedere are generally quire good, but there will always be some aspects of every hotel that causes others to rate it higher/lower than the general consensus.

I'm sure the OP will give his/her comments, but i didn't want you to be too concerned until they do so.

Ok, our dates have changed, but just by one day. We are now going 4/28 - 5/2

Can you please ID these hotels, and give us a Priceline 4* then 3.5* strategy for TS, MTW, ESB, MSG up to $190? This should be the final time I ask. I'll do the strategy and then book one of these if I'm unsuccessful. Thank you! (and yes, I always use your Hotwire and PRICELINE links!)

Best guess for the 4* MTC would be the Park Central Hotel... for the 3.5* TS The Row seems likely.

Given the guessed Row NYC on HOTWIRE for $153/nite, and this property currently being 4* rated on PRICELINE, by bidding for a 4* hotel up to $190 while including the Times Square zone in your bidding, you run the risk of an overbid... should we lower your maximum bid to $150/nite OR are you willing to risk an overbid in hopes of receiving something other than The Row? (OR you could not include Times Square in your bidding)

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Please confirm how you'd like to bid and we will advise accordingly.

Oh, I just booked the darn thing. Tried bidding on Priceline last night and great day, took forever. We saved over $400 from our Holiday Inn backup reservation.

I got the Row, as predicted, for $158. I'm ok with this. I read bad things about it when it was Milford but according to the reviews on TripAdvisor it sounds like they've done a lot.

This is an entirely different hotel than when it was the Milford Plaza... it was a complete change of style, not just a new name put on the building.

To confirm, did you win this by bidding on PRICELINE OR thru HOTWIRE? If the latter, can you confirm the amenities that were showing for this property before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.
