Hi,

Looking for hotel near Disneyland from 03/13 - 03/16 (3 nights) for 2 adults and one kid (5 years). Looking for 3 start hotel and also good with 2.5 if the location is near to Disneyland Maingate. I am bidding first time so I am not sure whether Priceline or Hotwire is good for Disneyland. Please advise me. Have done Priceline unsuccessful bids for 60, 70 and 75 for 3 start and 61 for 2.5 star. I still have three weeks left. I am not sure whether I am bidding too early. Please help me.

Few comments/questions to get started...

Looking for hotel near Disneyland from 03/13 - 03/16 (3 nights) for 2 adults and one kid (5 years).

Note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. While the risks are lower in a family friendly location such as Anaheim, it's still a risk that you should be aware of an need to decide if it's a risk you're willing to accept. If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE would still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)

...also good with 2.5 if the location is near to Disneyland Maingate.

Are you OK with a hotel anywhere in the 'Disneyland - Anaheim Convention Center - Garden Grove' zone? If not, when bidding (and on your previous bids) how do you endure that you will receive a property close to Maingate?

A quick look at rates for these dates shows high rates so there may be some event taking place that is causing higher than usual rates. Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com, what is the best deal you're able to find at an acceptable property for these dates?

Thanks for your quick reply. After looking at your explanation, I will be looking at Hotwire bidding process.

I am okay hotels anywhere in the 'Disneyland - Anaheim Convention Center - Garden Grove' zone but my preference will be Maingate. As many people suggested staying closer to Maingate is better than parking own vehicle. So I am preferring Maingate.

I am still in early stages of looking for property. By looking at the successful bids on your forum, I have tried with $50 - $75 range for 3 star hotel in priceline. I will see if I can win with $50 - $75 range in hotwire. Otherwise, I will change my dates and keep you posted. What price range will you suggest for 3 star and 2.5 star hotels in Disneyland for the months of Mar or Apr? Thanks a lot for your quick response.

Hot.wire does not involve bidding. You are shown a set of listings for your dates with amenities, star rating, price per night and zone. After purchase, you are told the hotel and - like Price.line - the reservation cannot be cancelled or changed at that point.

If you need assistance trying to identify a particular listing, please provide the star rating, price per night, zone and the entire (including any accessible) list of amenities. You may need to click on the listing, then click "book now", then click "see all amenities" to see the complete list of amenities.

As noted above, rates are date specific, and can vary greatly from one day to the next based upon demand for the specific dates you're seeking. It is quite possible that you won't be able to replicate the winning bids that others have won if you're dates are different (and have higher demand) than for the dates that others have won for less. Did you take a look at rates for your stay as per MAPS and HOTELS.com as suggested above... what is the best deal you're able to find for these dates?

...but my preference will be Maingate.

There is no 'Maingate' zone on either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.
