Hotwire Hotel: 4* New Orleans (French Quarter - Mississippi River) Omni Royal Orleans

Hi there. This is my first time posting so thank you in advance!

I see a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal on Priceline for my dates and it's $163/night and has the following description:

4 Star Hotel in French Quarter - Canal Street Area for $163/night

Guest Score: 7 out of 10 (seems low for a 4 star no?)

Guaranteed Amenities:
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
Free Internet
Business Center

Does this sound like I should jump on it? We really want to have a pool (even if weather is tricky). Is it a win/win no matter which hotel it may be? We want to stay below $200 (our absolute max),

Thank you!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Best guess for this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer would be the Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter.

If you're willing to pay a bit more, HOTWIRE has this 4.5* hotel for $173/nite (your price may differ by a few dollars) and an impressive 4.5/5.0 TA rating and the following amenities:

Smoke Free

Fitness

Pool

Restaurant

Business

Laundry

Hi-Speed Internet

Blind Accessible

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Handicapped Parking

Roll-in Shower

... my best guess for this one would be the Hyatt French Quarter.

Hi! Thank you so much for your response. I wanted that Hotwire deal desperately but unfortunately I didn't jump soon enough because by the next day it was gone. Boo. The Hyatt would be ideal, looks clean and newer. I'm a bit gun shy after seeing TA photos of various NOLA hotels with rats, roaches, and stained mattresses. This is an anniversary trip so I'd like to avoid grossness as much as possible. :)

So, I had intended to post a new deal that looked good for you to peruse but, alas, I keep coming here to post about new deals I'm seeing but by the time I go back they are gone.
Can you just give me pointers on what to look for on Hotwire/Priceline for the express deals if I want to land Hyatt or something very similar quality-wise? Then I'll just jump on them asap.

Should I watch for guest rating of 90% and above, 4.5*, pools, and French Q (like the one you suggested earlier)? Anything else that gives the great hotels away?

Thanks again. I really appreciate this site.

No. What I meant was that I keep seeing new express deals that I want to ask about but by the time I get home to ask you guys, they are gone off of Hotwire/Priceline. I'm not quick enough I suppose.

Right now there is a Hotwire secret deal (I realize this is the Priceline thread but I had seen you guys prefer we keep our inquiries to one thread so hopefully posting here is ok).

Here is the description (and using my same dates 3/21-3/24):

French Quarter / Bourbon Street area Hotel

I'm not super jazzed about 80%. The only hotels I don't want to get are the JW and Crowne Plaza Hotel Astor. Crowne Plaza has a 3.5/5 on Tripadvisor. Is TA score what Hotwire is using to calculate the % recommended number? Or is that unrelated?

Thanks again for the help and your patience with my noobness.

The Hot.wire % is the Hot.wire customer %, which is unrelated to TA. This listing would unfortunately be the Crowne Plaza. You can see all of the Hot.wire hotels reported to the board here: Hotwire Hotel List and Price.line: Priceline Hotel List.

What would be your desired max budget per night for this stay?

Thank you for the heads up! I'm so glad I didn't jump on that one.

Our max would be $200/night. Ideally we'd land something around the $150-180 range. We've had great 'name your own price' success in the past when travelling the east coast but I'm nervous they'll stick me with Crowne or JW if I go that route.

Thanks again.

I see what looks like the Hilton Riverside for $215/nite if that is of any interest.

Is split bid an option? For 3/22-3/24 i'm seeing what may be the Royal Sonesta for $146/nite or the Omni Royal Orleans for $137/nite... you could then apply some of this savings to a more expensive hotel in the French Quarter area for Saturday nite (as rates are much higher for Saturday than the other two nites of your stay), lower your star rating for this first nite, or stay in a nearby zone.

Excellent advice thank you both!

I think split bid is the way to go. I'm going to jump on that $138 Bourbon/River hotel.

I'll either attempt a 'name my price' for Saturday OR this Hotwire deal looks a bit appealing:

$176

4*

95% recommended

Downtown/superdome

Free internet

Fitness center

Pool(s)

Restaurant(s)

Business center

From my own look at your hotel list I want to guess Intercontinental. But you're the experts :) What do you think?

I'm using the links provided and will when I purchase. Thanks!

So I went with the split bid idea and got Omni Royal for $137/night plus used the 10$ off coupon. It was listed at 90% recommended.
I'm very happy. Now, I just have to figure out what to do for our first night (Saturday). I'm thinking I'll try name my own price... I'll report back.

Thanks again!
