It's my OH 40th birthday and so looking to say downtown to have a bit of choice of restaurants, shopping, comedy clubs, nightlife.  We were in NYC for NYE this year and stayed at the Hyatt TS.  I don't mind TS area, but having stayed in that area so much over the last 10 years, I'd like to try the Soho/Tribeca area.

Ideal budget - $250, max budget $300 before taxes etc.

I'm fussy as anything so the quality and cleanliness of the Hyatt TS was amazing for me.

TIA

The Algonquin would be my guess for this 4.5* Times Square property.

If you're looking to stay downtown, how about the 4.5* hotel (with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating and 100% recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests) in the Downtown zone for $237/nite:

Free Internet

Pet Friendly

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Laundry

Hi-Speed Internet

Spa

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Wheelchair Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Roll-in Shower

... the Andaz Wall Street would be my best guess for this one.

Just had a quick look to see if anything new has come up...

Remember our RateDrop service will monitor your desired star rating and zones for your dates of travel and let you know of any rate drops.

I see the 4* in PRICELINE EXPRESS at $173/nite with no amenities... my guess would be The Row.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Good luck and let us know what you decide or how we can be of further help.

I'm excited about the possibility of this one and I may do it if you confirm my thoughts:

4* rating in ESB area

9+ rating or higher

Pets allowed Free Internet Restaurant and Business Centre

$216 a night.

If you can help please that would be fabulous!

Thank you!

This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. The Andaz 5th Avenue and Archer would be guesses, but it may be something else. The 9+ guest rating is certainly solid, so the listing has that in its favor.

Please keep us updated with what you decide.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Personally, I think with NYC, I'm not spending a lot of time in the hotel so it becomes looking for a good value, location and if I can get a hotel that I'm happy with in terms of style and reviews, all the better. If I'm going to be spending more time in the hotel (whether NYC or elsewhere), then it becomes more a focus on room size and amenities. Unfortunately, with NYC rooms are - at least on average - smaller than average.

Oh well, it was the latter of the two.  The rooms are half the size and that's one of the biggest bug bears I have about hotels in NYC, but I realise that's the risk you take in booking a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal.  Let's see what happens when are there.  I've saved $500 on my original budget so I can't complain too much.  Thank you so much for all your help whilst I made up my mind!

Sorry to hear that the result wasn't the one of the two you'd hoped for, but a very nice deal for a newer property. Additionally, this hotel gets excellent reviews on tripadvisor, which is really saying something in NYC, where rates are often sky-high and expectations are not often met as a result of that.

Additionally, in terms of smaller rooms, you can try writing/calling the hotel and see if you can negotiate a larger room. That's a difficult task in NYC and there's a definite chance they'll say no, but if it's of interest it's worth a try and the worst they can say is no.

Thank you for letting us know about this new PRICELINE EXPRESS listing so that we can update the site's Priceline Hotel List.

Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.

Enjoy your stay.
