We are hoping to stay in a 3*5 and up hotel. Preferable areas in order are Upper West Side, Central Park South, Time Square,...We are going to watch performances at Lincoln Center, but we will probably arrive NYC pretty late so we want to stay closer to Lincoln Center. Please give us some suggestions! Moreover, do I have a better chance to get a better price if I wait when the time is closer? Thank you guys! Link to comment

The Jan/Feb period is the slowest of the year - once you get to late March and into April, rates do start to rise noticeably. I think you're likely looking at the $145-160 (or higher, depending on the zone) range, at least for a 3.5*+.
