travelmom98
This seems strange to me. There are only 2 hot wire hotels listed for my dates in downtown Dallas. One is a 4* and one is a 1*, but the difference in price is $95 for 4* and $92 for 1*. The price crossed out is not much different either $163 v. $159. Here are amenities:4* $95/$163crossed outPet friendlySmoke freeFitnessPool(s)Restaurant Business centerSelf service laundryInternet accessGolf nearby85% recommended4 out of 5 on TA1* $92/$159 crossed outFree breakfastFree internetPet friendlyBoutique FitnessRestaurant Business centerAssessible for visually impaired"Still gathering reviews"Just wondering why 4* & 1* would be almost same price. Also, haven't seen any 1* listed on Hotwire listAny help appreciated Link to comment
thereuare
Please start by following-up your previous Boston Hotwire thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip, then reply here and we will have a look at and comment on your post above. Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans. How many rooms/adults/children are you searching for? If you search using our BiddingHelper.com and use the EASY VIEW tab do you see more amenities than what you've listed above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. travelmom98
I added reply to my Boston thread (we booked on our own for that trip to make sure we'd have adjoining rooms--didn't want to risk getting 2 rooms that might be separated). For this room in Dallas (local for us), it will be me & my 2 daughters. We only need one room. Either a king with rollaway or two queens. Thank you Link to comment
AaronJB
Hotels make their pricing decisions independently and it's not unusual for a 3* to be more than a 4* and sometimes a lower rated hotel is the same price as a higher rated one. Are you searching for 3 people or 2? When I search for 2 people, I see a 4* in this zone w/Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Golf, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly. (please click on listings, then click "book now", then click "see all" and list all amenities showing, including accessible.) If you are seeing that amenity set, my guess would be the Sheraton. I don't think you'd want a 1* when a 4* is available for a couple of dollars more. However, when I search for more than 2 people in the downtown zone, there's no listings. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
travelmom98
Thank you. I suspect it is the Sheraton too. I was not planning on booking the 1*, it just seemed odd to me that they were so close in price despite being so far apart in stars. I was wondering if it could be a mistake since the amenities seemed to match up with the Magnolia and the price seemed more appropriate for the Magnolia. And you were correct. I had not put in the number of people. I figured we could deal with a king (with rollaway) or a double. In any event, since I would not be happy with the Sheraton, I will book somewhere else where we can be sure of getting what we need. Thank you for all your help. I appreciate it! Link to comment

AaronJB
There's also the possibility that you could use PRICELINE EXPRESS, if you are seeing a hotel in the desired zone with bed choice as an option. Please keep us updated on what you ultimately decide and definitely let us know if we can be of further assistance.
