Twiny41
Hi there, I have a reservation in the Grand Hyatt Washington DC for two nights on Jan 30 and 31, $130 / night. I'd like to see what better deal I can obtain from priceline or another bidding website and cancel my current reservation (I need to cancel by 3PM EST today). I would need a room for two in downtown, area 11 or 5 in priceline (White House or Capitol Hill north.)The hotel would need to be 3 stars or above. We would check in late on Friday night (flight arriving around midnight). Thank you for any help you can bring! Best,Rodolphe Link to comment
thereuare
You can likely get a 4* hotel in one of these two zones for less than your $130/nite back-up rate... are you looking for the highest rated hotel within your $130/nite maximum bid OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip? Please confirm your objective for this stay and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Twiny41
Thanks thereuare for your quick reply. You're right, I fogot to mention my goal. My goal is to spend less than $100 on a 3* or, ideally, better rating. Thank you! Rodolphe Link to comment
thereuare
Need further clarification... let's assume the following scenario: 3* available for $72/nite 3.5* available for $85/nite 4* available for $95/nite ... do you prefer the less expensive 3* hotel OR the higher rated 4* hotel (given that both are within your budget) Let us know and we will advise accordingly. Twiny41
OK I see, sorry for not being clear enough. In that case, let's say that what I want is the least expensive 3,5 stars, and it has to be under $100. Does this make sense? Thank you Link to comment

Twiny41
Thanks again thereuare for your great help today. I've been able to cancel my previous booking just in time, and I obtained the Club Quarters Washington DC at $73/night on Friday and Saturday night. It's seems like an okay-type hotel but still rated 3,5 stars, with an awesome location so that's great! When I clicked on the link you posted for the room at $81 I saw it at $74 so I was going to stop my bidding at $73, I guess I would have had the same hotel anyway. Should I post a separate thread with this win? Thanks again, Rodolphe Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you were successful and came in well under budget! We have edited the topic title for you to reflect your win, but in the future you can do so yourself by using the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of the page (it's not there anymore since it can only be used once and we just used it to edit the title to reflect your win) Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.
