mykel67
Currently on hold with Hotwire disputing this reservation. I did my research here and anticipated the 4.5* Intercontinental Le Grand. This Marriott is a 4* hotel on Expedia, Hotels.com, and on Marriott's own website-- not a 4.5*. I got nowhere with the first customer service rep. Now on hold for a supervisor. I've never been downgraded during a Hotwire purchase before. Grrr... (Yes, I used the link here to begin my search.) mykel67
Wow-- they have actually refunded my purchase! The supervisor cross-referenced the Hotwire rating with Expedia and agreed that there is an error and it should be listed as a 4 star. He has forwarded the issue to their IT department to make the necessary changes. He said this is only the second or third time in his tenure at Hotwire where he has seen this kind of discrepancy. And while I was on hold, I decided I didn't want to leave our week in Paris to chance, so I booked another hotel directly. Link to comment
thereuare
Sorry to hear you were disappointed with the outcome for this one, but glad to hear that HOTWIRE refunded your purchase and you're pleased with the ultimate resolution. Assuming this property is still appearing in your purchase history, can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities HOTWIRE shows for this property when viewing your purchase history using the MY ACCOUNT link on the top right of their home page. Glad to see you found an alternate reservation and your plans are now set. In the future when PRICELINE / HOTWIRE don't work for your needs, please book thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Thanks, have a great trip! zzdocxx
Thanks Mykel, just looked up this property online and at least from the photos it does look quite nice. But I understand completely your feeling about it. Funny though, I also looked up Le Marianne on Jetsetter but it says "no longer available". (Maybe they discontinued their booking contract?) On Le Marianne's own site the rooms are in the range of $275+ now. Link to comment
mykel67
I agree, the photos of the Marriott Opera look quite nice on the Marriott website, but some of the photos and reviews on TripAdvisor gave me cause for concern. I like the looks of the other two Marriott properties in Paris much more.Le Marianne was offered on Jetsetter for just 10 days as a flash sale; that's why it is no longer showing as available. I believe I saved about $500 total by booking through Jetsetter compared to other websites (including Le Marianne's). The only caveat is that the booking is non-changeable and non-refundable.
