Will I always get the best hotel for the money when I bid on priceline?

If someone by accident type in a very high bid, lets say 200 instead of 20 for a 2-star hotel, will priceline find the best hotel for 200 or is there a risk that  the person will end up with a 2-star hotel thats worth 50/night?

It's recommended not to overbid, as you can absolutely bid high for a 2* and get the exact same 2* you would have gotten otherwise. There have been instances of accidental bids that were significantly over the retail price for the property won (so you can bid more than a hotel's retail price and still win it), but Price.line does have a best price guarantee.

 

Still, it's not recommended to try and overbid to avoid a hotel. The trade-off for the discounted rates of Price.line bidding is that you have to be flexible and be willing to accept any hotel in the zone picked at the star rating chosen. Hot.wire and, to a lesser degree PRICELINE EXPRESS allow one to make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing, but are usually somewhat more expensive.
