Friarfan
Thanks for the welcome. I'm thinking upper East side, upper West side or central park South. Is West side nicer than East side? Thanks. Link to comment
thereuare
What are your plans for when you're in the city, and UES and UWS each go pretty far north and are typically not the most convenient for the average 'tourist' visitor, who usually prefers to stay more in the midtown area... or do you have specific plans/reason to be in the UES or UWS zones? Friarfan
Thanks for the advice. This will be our third trip to NYC so well likely skip some of the things we've seen previously. With that being said, we do plan on catching The Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum, 9/11 exhibits, and catch a Knicks game on the 1st. My wife has always wanted to run/bike around central park which was why I was thinking being close to it would be ideal but certainly open to suggestions. Thanks. Link to comment
AaronJB
Did you have a star rating in mind? Are you looking for $125 "all-in" (including taxes/fees) or $125 + taxes/fees? Unfortunately, looking at the rates that I'm seeing for these dates (which are somewhat more expensive as this starts to get into the very beginning of the Spring period in NYC) I think $125 "all-in" is not going to be realistic for these dates and $125 + taxes/fees is going to be difficult/unlikely. Hot.wire is showing a few midtown 3* options for around $160 and there is a 3.5* in the UES area for $162. Let us know your thoughts and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed. Friarfan
I was thinking $125 + taxes and fees.....that was ideal. The very top of my budget is $200 all in. As far as the star rating, the highest that'll get me. :) Link to comment
thereuare
I'm seeing what looks like the Holiday Inn Midtown New York (57th St) for $163/nite (all-in is just a few dollars over your all-in budget) but i don't think this is a very good value for this property. If you could stretch your budget a bit further i see what i think is the The Milburn Hotel $187/nite ($234 all-in per nite) which gets very good reviews and is in the UWS zone. If neither of the above are of interest, i think you'll need to expand your zone options in order to stay within buget... or do you want to start by trying to bid on these zone (UES, UWS, CPS) for any hotel in the zone at the star ratig (or higher) that you designate up to your maximum budget? Do note that if bidding the Central Park South zone this area contains the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms. Friarfan
Thank you for your help. In reviewing my options I ended up taking a flier on a bed and breakfast (Central Park View B&B) for $160 all in. Link to comment
