Thanks for the prompt reply.  I also wanted to check on the following possibility for the same dates.

 

4* Financial District NYC

$176 (normally $351)

90% recommend

Any thoughts?  Doubletree? Worldcenter?

I'm not confident that the 3.5* in the MTE zone would be the Roosevelt as i don't think that hotel would have a 100% recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests... my guess for this one would be the Residence Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan/Midtown East.

The Doubletree and the World Center would be be possibilities for this one, as would the W Downtown New York (which may have been downgraded since it was last reported to the board).

Do you have reason to stay or be in the Downtown for this trip, as midtown is generally considered to be a much more centrally located for the average tourist.

Is there something in particular you're looking for from this stay as i'm quite familiar with NYC and i think there are better options vs. staying Downtown (unless you need to be in this zone). What is your maximum budget per nite (before fees/taxes) for this stay?

Thanks so much for the detailed follow up. We don't have to stay downtown, was just looking at good value options. Residence Inn isn't exactly what we're looking for.

 

Would prefer to stay in a place with more action (Soho-Tribeca, ESB, Times Square, Chelsea, Midtown Central/East) - totally open to suggestions. We want to have good food options and be close to public transportation lines.

 

Currently seeing a 4.5* MSG - Hell's Kitchen Boutique for the same dates (12/28-31) for $194

 

Amenities: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower

 

Says 100% recommend, but then it says that not enough reviews have been collected.

 

Doesn't look like there are currently any 4.5* for that area on the site. Any help?

 

Ideally, would not want to spend more than $230-$250 per night (pre tax).

Best guess for the 4.5* MSG property would be the Ink48... very well reviewed property, but do note that it is a bit out of the way on the west side and not the most convenient to mass transit.

I believe all of the below fit your criteria and i would be fine with any of these (comes down to your personal taste in hotels and location preference):

Thanks for all your help. Those were great options. As we looked at those options and the price, we ended up seeing a 5* in the Financial district for $217 a night. Sounded more spacious than any of the other options.

 

So we ended up going with that and it was the Conrad New York.
