sportsmom3
Is it better to try and bid or take a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal on Priceline? Also is there a big difference between 3.5 and 4 star in New York Times Sq.? Link to comment
AaronJB
Both have their benefits. Price.line bidding is cheaper, but you have to be willing to stay anywhere within the zone at the star rating chosen. With PRICELINE EXPRESS, there is the ability to at least make an educated guess as to which hotel/s may be showing. Some hotels are not going to be everyone's cup-of-tea, so it comes down to personal opinion and other factors - in any major city, you will probably find some 4*'s that are more accurately 3.5* and some 3.5*s that are more accurately 4*. If you need assistance with your stay, please provide your desired budget per night and date/s of travel. Also, is TS the only acceptable zone? There are other nearby zones that are still convenient and yet, often cheaper and not so crowded. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. sportsmom3
I picked Time Square thinking it was the best bet for walking to the areas we are planning to see in the short time we are there. Our main objective is to catch a broadway show, see the Christmas decorations at Rockefeller centre, walk around to see the store window decorations and hit a few nice restaurants. I have used Priceline many of times but a little worried this time because the reviews for the hotels are all over the place. Also I am traveling with my sister so i want a king bed, two queens or two singles so to have a choice of rooms maybe my best bet. I am ok with paying up to $250 a night. Link to comment
AaronJB
If you want a particular bed type, really the only way to go to is to look for a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal with bed choice, then clicking on the listing and seeing what bed options are available. Are you seeing any listings with bed choice of interest? If so, please provide the zone, star rating, price and complete list of amenities. thereuare
My guess for the 3* PRICELINE EXPRESS property would be the Best Western Plus President Hotel At Times Square. This is an OK deal given that you're restricting yourself to only the Times Square zone, if you were open to other nearby zones i think you can get a little better value, such as: 4* Wyndham New Yorker for $270/nite 3* Salisbury Hotel for $216/nite 4* Empire hotel for $279/nite (a little north than ideal but fantastic reviews) ==> all of the above will have separate beds, but the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc. if this works for your needs.
