blueberries
Hi, Will be visiting NYC for the first time and would appreciate some help with finding rooms that will not break the bank. Only realised after booking our tickets that this is one of the most expensive periods for NYC, soooo glad to have found this site! I found these hotels under Priceline's express deals, any idea which hotels they might be? We will be relying on subway mostly, so hotels near one is preferred 1) 3* LES $160/night guest rating 8+ free breakfast, free Internet, fitness center, business center 2) 2* LES $151/night guest rating 8+ free breakfast, free internet, pets allowed 3) 3* Brooklyn area $145/night guest rating 7+ free breakfast, free Internet, business center 4) 3* Long Island City $114/night Free parking, fitness centre, restaurant Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding... we're glad you found us too! :) As a first time visitor i would highly recommend that you stay in the city if at all possible. The Brooklyn zone is much too large and you could end up quite a ways from Manhattn, making it inconvenient. Long Island City is quite a bit closer, and while some do like it, i'm not such a fan... this part of the city is going thru a transformation and is getting revitalized, but it still has a ways to go, imo, as it is still somewhat industrial and a lot of graffiti (it just 'feels' dirty to me) I'm local to the area and i'll have a look at those above (although i think the only one that is really feasible is the 3* LES property as it's also recommended to avoid the lower rated hotels in NYC... you could find a diamond in the rough that works out great for your needs, but you could also end up with something less than desirable that makes you loath returning to your hotel at the end of each day. To get started... i assume you are flying into the area? If so, which airport are you arriving at and what is your maximum budget per nite for this stay? AaronJB
Unfortunately, the core period for holiday shopping/festivities is is around 11/25-12/15. A 4* in the financial district can likely be had at the low end of your desired budget (and possibly a tad lower.) Unfortunately, a 4* in Midtown may take a little over your desired budget or at the very top end. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. thereuare
Did you change your plane tickets as well? What is your itinerary for this trip (is it still flexible) as there may be better ways to re-arrange your other destinations to improve rates for the NYC leg of your trip (which will also likely be the most expensive). Currently, are you leaving NYC the day after arrival, as you really won't have much time to experience the city.
