Priceline Hotel: Chicago Mag Mile

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Spring in Chicago is unfortunately expensive and these dates are on the high side. A 4/4.5* - at least at this point in time - is likely going to run more towards $130-140 + taxes/fees. Would this be acceptable? You have plenty of time to wait and see if prices come down, although given the season, $100 may continue to be difficult. You can use our new service, RateDrop.com to get alerts if PRICELINE EXPRESS, Hot.wire or regular rate listings decline in price.

Thanks for your reply, but I have seen in your Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins that in the May 2014 in the period 5th May to 19th May the intercontinental & Omni Chicago hotel deals were taken at 85$ & 95 $ respectively. Can you suggest how I can also be able to get these kind of deals? or should I wait for some more time, if so till when can I expect these kind of deals? & what is the best option of getting it?

If you look more closely at the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins you'll see quite a few 4* hotels also reported to the board during this period in the $120-$130 range (and the lower priced wins you reference were often for just one solo nite).

As well, rates are date specific and you can't always make a year-over-year comparison like you are trying to do. There is a 6K person conference taking place during your dates (5/10-5/13), plus one of the largest conventions of the year in Chicago starts on May 16th (60K+ attendees) and many attending this conference will arrive the nite before the conference begins in order to be prepared, well rested, and get an early start the following day... this is likely increasing hotel costs for your dates, especially the last nite of your stay.

If you use our BiddingHelper.com tool and repeat your search for 5/11-5/14 you'll see a 4* NMA-River North hotel for $143/nite which is more inline with the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins from last year for multi-nite stays, and this further supports the theory that you're currently seeing higher rates due to the last nite of your stay.

As suggested you can sign up with RateDrop so that you'll quickly be able to take advantage of any rate drops for your dates between now and your trip, but keep in mind that while rates may go down (although you may need to adjust your expectations of a sub-$100 win), it's also possible that they move even higher from here. If you do decide to wait i'd suggest booking a fully refundable back-up (we have just re-designed/re-launched BackUpBooking.com where you can find hotels/rates that are refundable until just before your stay (always confirm terms during the check-out process)
