Geronimo248
This happened to me last week & I thought it was worth sharing; I was looking to book a hotel on Hotwire for "Downtown Reno area" that shows up as 3 stars with a price of only $13. per night. My concern was that it NOT be the Sands Regency. I decided to call Hotwire & got a nice gentleman on the phone to assist me. I asked him in 10 different (very polite) ways if he could confirm if the hotel I was looking at (3Star $13.nite) was or was not the Sands. Since he could not give out that information he was nice enough to suggest that I go to "Hotwire Vacations" & compare the stars & amenities against the "Secret Hot Rate Hotels" and that should help narrow down which hotel(s) it may or may not be. The Sands listed in the "Vacations" section shows 2 1/2 stars so I figured that the 3 Star $13. night could not be the Sands. I was wrong! I ended up buying the $13. nite SANDS hotel. Lesson learned Hotwire does NOT always use the same STAR rating system for Secret Hot Rates -vs- Vacations. I called them, explained the story and I did get a refund. Link to comment
