Priceline Hotel: Does Anyone Know If Something is Going on This Weekend in Chicago?

This weekend is my birthday and I've decided to treat myself to a hotel room downtown. I've been trying for a little over a week and a half with Priceline with bids ranging between $65 to I think the highest I did was $130? $135? No luck at all. I've been aiming for the River North/Loop areas and 3-4 star choices.  A good number of my friends and boyfriend all have had luck on Priceline before, none of them bidding more than $100. I really don't get what i'm doing wrong. Do they not accept lower bids for multi night stays?  I'm honestly starting to feel like Priceline hates me. This is incredibly frustrating and really putting a damper on my birthday week happiness. Any suggestions, tips, words of encouragement, etc are appreciated!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Rates are date specific, so you won't always necessarily be able to replicate the wins of others if their dates are different than your own (as rates for your dates may be higher then when others have won for less)

Currently i think a 3* hotel in one of the two zones you've been bidding will likely run in the $150-$175 area... a 4* only a few dollars ($5-$10) more than the 3*.

After many re-bids, but finally ended up with the Holiday Express Mag Mile at $150 per night for 9/19 and 9/20.

Welcome to BetterBidding and thanks for your post.

Can you please add your win to the board as a NEW TOPIC so that others will be aware of your win when searching the topic titles on the board and in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and Priceline Maps.

In your post please include the star rating, city, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite, and dates of your stay... you can still view all of this information by going to PRICELINE and clicking the MY PROFILE >> MY TRIPS link near the top right of their home page.

Thanks!

PS- and please read your messages. Thank you.
