gagirl26
Hi, I'm new to the board, and have only bid on Priceline one time. But we'd like to do it again for an upcoming stay in NYC but I'd like some advice! Our dates are next week- for one night only on 9/18. Passing through the city on the way to a friend's wedding in the Hamptons. We'd like to be as central as possible (MTE, MTW, Times Square) and spend a max of 300 (including tax) for a 4* or 4*+ hotel. Of course we'd like to spend less than 300 bidding, since come of these locations are available on express deals for less than that. I'd like to be under 250 ideally. Can someone lay out for me the strategy of how to go about these bids?Where to start (200?) and with which star level and areaHow to rebid with different areas/star levelsCan you request 2 beds or just take what you can get? Thanks anyone for your help! thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! Few questions in order to move forward... Are you willing to pay more for a 4.5* vs. a 4* OR is your goal the least expensive 4* or better for this nite? What is your maximum bid price (before taxes and fees)? What about MSG and/or ESB and/or Chelsea... do these zones also work for your needs? DO NOTE that in the MTE zone most hotels are well located, but a few can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway (and one closer to a 15 minute walk) In terms of room configuration/bed type, on the bidding side PRICELINE all that is guaranteed is a room that will accommodate double occupancy. If you need a certain room configuration there are two alternate options: 1) use PRICELINE EXPRESS and find a hotel that offers 'Bed Choice' 2) if two beds is desired you can search HOTWIRE for more than double occupancy (2adults/2children) as they ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search. My searching for quad occupancy you should be able to assure two beds in the room, but the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know your thoughts/comments in the board and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
