Stretford99
Hoping you guys can help me out! I need to find somewhere in NYC on Saturday 20th SeptemberRegarding areas, ideally would like Manhattan itself rather than going further out to Brooklyn and such like, but not too fussed on areas within reason!I have to bid in pounds, as im from the UK and it would be fantastic if i could find somewhere on budget of between £100-£150. Would it be possible to find something 4 star? The nearer to 100 the better but if thats not possible i could stretch to £150 - including taxes and feesHoping you kind geniuses could help me out! thereuare
Can you please update your Las Vegas Priceline thread with whatever you your decision(s)/thoughts for that trip, then reply here with your maximum bid price in US Dollars and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. PS- you can bid in whatever currency you'd like by using the drop down menu on the top right of PRICELINE's home page. Same goes for HOTWIRE, but for Hotwire (if you use that service), please change country destination and the currency drop down menu to United States and US Dollars. Then continue to search HOT.WIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment

thereuare
At current rates a 4* hotel in Manhattan for your dates will likely be in the $190-$225 area before taxes/fees... lowering to a 3.5* maybe saves you $10-$20. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Stretford99
Hi thanks for that. That's v reasonable, any advice on what areas to aim for to attempt to get the nicest hotel! Lol. I'm not too fussed but prefer central, but if there's a particular area I should aim for then that would be good to know, thanksI forgot to add that 4* is what I'll go for Link to comment
AaronJB
I'll note that the Hudson is a 4* possibility in CPS and has extremely small (around 130 sq ft) rooms. The OneUN is also a 4* possibility in MTE and is at the far E border of the zone. Would these two possibilities be acceptable? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
thereuare
Generally speaking the following zones work well for most users: MTW, TS, ESB, MSG ... and the following may be OK for your needs given the following comments for each: MTE - most hotels are well located, but some can be up to a 10-15 minute walk to the subway CPS - has notoriously small rooms (as mentioned above) which may or may not be an issue for you for one nite Chelsea - can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway, but a 'hot' area right now with lots of restaurants, bars, clubs, cafes, boutiques, etc. so still a very desirable area Let us know which zone(s) you'd like to include in your bidding and we will advise accordingly. You may need to increase your budget another $10 or so as the previous $225 upper limit was based upon 'anywhere in Manhattan' and Downtown will likely be the least expensive, so not sure if you want to include this zone as it's slightly less convenient (but still quite do-able)... so it depends upon how tight/flexible your budget is. Stretford99
Ah fantastic. So in that case i don't mind including MTW, TS, Chelsea, MSG, MTE. I do like the sound of Chelsea! Walking 10 mins or so to the subway isnt too much of an ordeal for that one night. And I do like the sound of Chelsea! Link to comment

Stretford99
Thank you so much for your help! Sorry to be a pain! Our plans have changed we now need a hotel for 3 people! So 20th September to 24th September. 4 nights, 3 people. They don't mind the same areas preferences as I have above, but we could probably do with 2 queen beds. So sorry to change again, we did have accord action sorted but has fallen through. We could maybe increase budget to $250 a night including taxes? Will it be possible to get rooms for 3? Thanks! The same areas as above are fine, 4 star etc. if you could help with some links again then I can get bidding tonight and report back progress! Link to comment
AaronJB
If you are searching for three people, then I would not recommended bidding, as - especially in NYC - that is almost guaranteed to result in one bed. If you have three people, the best options in NYC are: 1. PRICELINE EXPRESS. If you click on a listing that has "bed choice", you can click on a listing and look for 2 beds as one of the choices. 2. Hot.wire. If you search for more than 2 people, you should get bedding for the entire party, although that may be 2 beds or 1 + sofabed or 1 + rollaway. Are you seeing a listing on either service of interest? If so, please provide the amenities, star rating, price per night and zone for the listing and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID the listing. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
Stretford99
Hi thanks for the help. Just a question, if we booked a 5 star hotel through priceline would it make it more likely that they could give us a room with an extra bed? It's seems a lot more expensive on hotwire searching for 3 people, I think all 3 of us might be willing to risk booking a 5 star through priceline and then ring beforehand to see if could ensure two beds? Or is that a bad idea? Link to comment
thereuare
You're seeing increased rates at HOTWIRE for triple occupancy because most NYC hotels charge extra for more than double occupancy (regardless of how booked) and this will be the case regardless of the star level. As a result, I would not recommend bidding on PRICELINE for triple occupancy in NYC at any star level as the risk is just too great, imo. Also, it may be a moot point, as there is usually a very sharp jump in price when going from the 4* level to the 4.5*/5* level... and a quick look makes me believe that a 5* hotel will be well beyond your current budget for this nite. Stretford99
Hi so finally I booked through a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal, $239, 4Star, downtown I ended up, in the financial district - Club Quarters Hotel - World Trade Centre. I had to compromise a bit due to budget restrictions, but very happy all in all thank you so much for your help! You guys suggested downtown in the first place and I wasn't having it but that's where I ended up, and looks like a nice hotel Link to comment
AaronJB
Congrats on your success. :) Very good deal for this CQ property and glad you are pleased with the win. Can you confirm for which dates this purchase was for and the amenities that were showing with this listing before purchase? Thanks. Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay. Link to comment
thereuare
Was this for your complete stay (9/20-9/24) or just the nite of 9/20? If your entire group is staying in this area i recommend this place which is not too far from your hotel: Adrienne's Pizzabar 54 Stone St It's a restaurant, not a slice shop, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of ingredients they use (stick with the 'grandma style' pizza which is what they're most well known for)... note that drinks are pricey so may want to keep your consumption on a lighter side if trying to stay within a budget. Have a great time in NYC... and please let us know regarding the dates/amenities.
