You should be able to get a hotel in the MTW for less than your $300/nite budget, but it will likely take close to this limit.

If you're hoping for less than this, i would suggest include more zones in your bidding as this will give more properties the chance to accept your bid price (which in turn translates to the lowest price possible)

For most users the following zones (with comments next to some where necessary) are generally considered to be centrally located:

MTE - some hotels can be up to a 10-15 minute walk to the subway

CPS - well located but has the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)

Chelsea - can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway, but a 'hot' area right now with lots of bars, cafes, restaurants, nightlife

MSG, ESB, TS, MTW - generally no issues

As far as rates for these dates, there is no way to know if rates will come down, or move even higher, between now and your trip. It all depends upon supply/demand (how actual new reservations/cancellations comes in relative to expected new reservations/cancellations). An increase in the number of new reservations (or fewer cancellations) vs. expectations and you can see rates move higher... or vice-versa.

Let us know your thoughts if you want to include other zones and/or if you're willing to bid up to $300 at this point in time and we'll advise accordingly.

Some really good information...thanks! My group (four of us) will be attending the ComicCon event at the Javits Center. It looks like Midtown West or Chelsea are probably the closest zones to the Javits Center. I will try the $300 range to see if this is accepted. Any other information or suggestions are greatly appreciated...thank you again.

MSG would be the closest zone, with Chelsea not too far behind.

Not sure if you will be dressed for the event(s), but the M34 goes crosstown so the ESB zone may work for you as well if you're able/willing to take the bus. HOWEVER, with 4 people you should very affordably be ale to take a taxi from most midtown locations (with perhaps the exception of MTE)

If you'd like help with a bidding strategy please confirm which zone(s) you're willing to include in your first bidding cycle and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.
