"4 Star Deluxe Hotel, Louisville Downtown Area."

Guaranteed Amenities: Fitness Center, Business Center, Guest rating of 8.0 of higher.

I bid $75. We are staying in Louisville for two nights over Labor Day weekend beginning on that Sunday. At least if we don't like it, we can go home a day learly and not feel ripped off. I realize that these are a gamble, but I thought that I had better odds out of the five possibilies (Seelbach, Brown, Marriott, 21c, Hyatt) than what I did and I lost.

Honestly, it is the hotel that I wanted the least out of all of the possibilities. It is the exact opposite of what I hoped for.

The center lobby is open and loud. The hotel is adjacent to 4th Street Live. It is modern in furnishing. It is "family oriented."

I hoped for:

A smaller or compartmentalized feel, quieter more stately, established hotel, for a romantic weekend with fewer children.

I have stayed at the Brown many times, been in the Seelbach restaurants, been in 21c in other cities and those three seemed to be the more ideal for what I was hoping for. The Marriott in Downtown is even nicer than many Marriotts that I have stayed in. I realize for $75 a night for a four star hotel, it is truly nothing to complain about-I just let my hopefulness get the better of me.

I have stayed in many Hyatts over the years and they are always what I consider my bare minimum for hotels: attentive service, maintained surroundings. I had just hoped for something more than the bare minimum. I wanted to be sure not to get the Galt House, which is 3.5 stars, I think. I have stayed there, as well. The only thing I remember about it was that the hallways were very hot and humid and that by the time I got where I wanted to go I felt awful. That is not a good way to remember a hotel.

I am so not taking up poker.
