Hi guys,

I would be grateful for your help to find the best hotel available within a budget of $165 per night in San Francisco via Priceline/hotwire.

I don't mind any of the following locations:

Dates:  4-9-2014 to 8-9-2014

Fishermans Wharf area: 3 star or higher

Financial District: 3.5 star or higher

Union Square East - Nob Hill - 2 star or higher.

Thanks!

Divesh

Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans.

For your non-opaque bookings the links in our Support Page or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com

Fishermans Wharf area: 3 star or higher

Financial District: 3.5 star or higher

Union Square East - Nob Hill - 2 star or higher.

To clarify the above, did you first want to try the Fisherman Wharf zone for a 3* or higher hotel up to your limit, then if that was rejected try the Financial District for a 3.5* or higher, and if that is rejected try for a 2* or higher in the USE zone... or is the goal the least expensive of any of the star rating/zone combinations?

Many thanks for your help.  Sorry I am new to the forum I will ensure I follow up in the future.

That's right I'd like too try the Fisherman Wharf zone for a 3* or higher hotel up to your limit, if that was rejected try the Financial District for a 3.5* or higher, and if that is rejected try for a 2* or higher in the USE zone.

Thanks

I think this may be a difficult win within your budget, but to give it a try you can star with the following:

When bidding in San Francisco you have FOUR re-bid zones at the 3.5* level... ONE re-bid zone at the 3* level, and NO re-bid zones at the 2* level.

Select 3.5* Fishermans Wharf...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3* Fishermans Wharf...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Financial District...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $165

If the above is rejected, to look at the USE zone, did you want to start at the 2* level and try for the least expensive 2* or better in the zone OR would you ideally like a higher rated hotel?

Any questions feel free to ask.

Many thanks for your help.

Is it possible to try all those bids in one single day using the rebid zones as suggested?

Do you have a tool where I can identify the re-bid zones for each area?

I will try the stratergy if I don't win then I'd be grateful if you could provide me with a stratergy for USE zone.

When it comes to the USE zone ideally i'd like something higher than 2 star as some of the 2 star hotels can be hit and miss.

Thank you:)

Yes, all of the above bids can be made in the same 24 hour bidding session.

In regards to determining your re-bid zones, if you're read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and are still confused, try this:

1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter your city and dates, and click "GO".

2) List each zone that is offered in this region.

3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.

4) post your findings and we'll take it from there

If you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further.
