jokojay00
Driving to Chicago 11/2 and staying through 11/4. Attending a convention / trade show at the McCormick Center and am looking for some advice on what other geographic areas I should bid in as it seems the properties right around McCormick are prohibitively expensive. I don't want to drive while I'm there, so my idea is to take the train in each day but I'm unclear which areas to target to do that. Preferably I'm looking to stay in a 3, 3.5 or 4 star property. Any suggestions? Many thanks. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. What is your target budget for this stay? (per nite before taxes/fees) If feasible, i assume taking the bus would be an acceptable option as well? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)A few thoughts: It's very easy to get from either downtown area (Millennium-Loop-GP or River North-NMA, as they are labeled on PRICELINE) to McCormick. It's a quick cab ride from much of the Loop and a reasonable cab ride from much of the NMA area. You can also take the Metra train from the Loop area to McCormick. If you are driving, you can stay outside the city - I often recommend the North suburbs, which are quite nice, plus they offer some sights and a lot of shopping and restaurants. However, I really recommend these if you're driving, as if you PRICELINE a hotel in this area, you could easily wind up in one that is not accessible via public transit (unless you call a cab from a nearby train station.) These hotels generally offer free parking and most are a short drive from a Metra station. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
