Hello, I think I've left our hotel booking a little late but here goes.  I need help identifying 3* Hotel NMA - River North @ $151/night Aug 14th-18th on Priceline Express includes, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Fitness Center, Business Center.  Guest Ratings 7+  Save 35% on this stay. We have 2 adults and 3 children, ages 17, 14 and 10.  Any suggestions regarding other hotels would be greatly appreciated.  We would like to stay downtown in walking distance of all the attractions.  Also since free parking is rare at downtown hotels, possibly walking distance to a paid parking lot which costs less than hotel (50-65).

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Just to confirm, are you looking for 2 rooms? What would be your desired max budget per night for this stay?

Additionally, I'll note that - while not the most optimal option, the North burbs are really quite nice and you could likely get two rooms for around $50 each at a 3.5*, plus free parking.  So, while you would have to drive to the nearest Metra station (easy) and then take the train in (and the Metra trains are nicer and more comfortable than the CTA trains), it becomes if the trek in would be worth paying a fraction of the cost per room and getting free parking.

My guess for the 3* would be the Holiday Inn Express Cass.

Thank you for your reply.  We were looking at getting one room at a budget of $150/night with quad accomodation plus sofa bed or roll away.  I agree that staying in the north burbs is a good idea and the savings might be worth it.  How long would the Metra take to North Michigan Avenue?  Do you have any names of hotels in that area you would suggest?  Also I should have mentioned that an indoor pool would be a bonus as well.  :)

Cheers!

PRICELINE EXPRESS only guarantees double occupancy and not all listings offer the option of two beds (when they do, it's often extra). Additionally, few hotels downtown allow 5 in a room - most are 4 max occupancy. While some hotels may not have an issue, others may.

With quad occupancy, Hot.wire is a better option, but there is still a risk with trying to have five in a room with quad occupancy.

It's about 35-40 min by train to the final station on the West side of the Loop (Ogilvie Transit Center or Union Station across the street), then it's a walk across the Loop to get to the Michigan Ave area.

I'm seeing what may be the Holiday Inn Express Cass for $186 when searching for 2 adults and 2 children on Hot.wire - that is the cheapest option downtown when searching for 2 adults and 2 children.

I'm seeing a 4* in the Glenview-Northbrook-Mt Propsect area for $60 w/:Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Golf, Free Parking, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly. This hasn't been ID'd, but I'd guess this may be a new amenity set for the Renaissance North Shore.

I'm seeing a 3.5* for $52 in the same zone w/Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Free Parking, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower. This would likely be the Hyatt Deerfield.

Let us know your thoughts and we would be happy to offer further suggestions.
