Hi,

I'm trying to book a hotel for my upcoming trip to NYC but I'm having some difficulties finding a hotel with my budget.

The areas that I have been looking into are (in this order): MTW,TS,MTE,MSG,ESB,HK,Chelsea,UES,UWS (I avoided the CPS based on the recommendation in this forum).
I would prefer to not try 3* hotels since there are some hotels that I want to avoid in this category.

So far, I tried to bid for 4* on all of these areas with 200$ and was declined.
I also tried to bid on 3.5* (excluding the UES and UWS areas since they had some hotles with a low rating that I wanted to avoid) with 175$ and was declined.

I wanted to stay under 200 including taxes but I don't think this is possible in my dates. I increased my budget to 200$ before taxes but it didn't help yet.

My current budget is 200$ for 4* and 175$ for 3.5*. I'd rather spend less on a 3.5* hotel.

What is a realistic price for these dates? Should I try to split my stay into 2 hotels? If so, how should I split the dates? and what should be the budget for each split?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Here are some options for you to consider...

HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel in the East Village-LES zone for $189/nite which has an excellent 4.5/5.0 TA rating and these amenities:

Pet Friendly

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

... best guess for this one would be the Wyndham Garden Chinatown if this works for your needs.

PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the UWS zone for $222/nite, but using code METRO6 takes an extra 5% OFF bringing this to $211/nite, just over your rejected bids for a 4* hotel:

Outdoor Pool

Pets Allowed

Restaurant

Business Center

Fitness Center

... my guess here would be the Empire Hotel.

Do either of these work for your needs?

You can use our service, RateDrop.com, in order to get alerts on price declines. There is some time cost and literal cost to get back and forth from LIC to NYC, so if NYC is not vastly higher, it would be worth considering NYC instead.

What would be your desired max budget per night for a 4* or 3.5* in NYC?

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Will dropping the limit to 3* help at all? I don't really mind the 3* but I rather not bid on it in priceline since there are some 3* hotels which I'd like to avoid.

There's a deal on hotwire for a 3* hotel in ESB area for 189$ with the following amenities:

FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Smoke Free Rooms, Self service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower

Which hotel can this hotel be?

Best guess for the 3.5* HOTWIRE hotel above would be the NH Jolly Madison Towers Hotel, upgraded to the 3* level since the last time it was reported to the board. (and i see the 3.5* East Village-LES property with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating is still offered for the same price as this one)
