Priceline Hotel: 4* New York City (Midtown East) W New York Hotel

Good morning,

We are looking for a 4* in MTE from Sept 19-21. We are going with a group of friends who will be staying at The Jewel facing Rockefeller Centre. We didn't want to pay $360 a night so we would like to priceline something in the area, walking distance from them.

We tried the following last night but weren't successful:

- 4* MTE $190

- 5* MTE $200

- 4* MTE, TS $210

Before going any further I thought I would check with the experts to see if they have any suggestions :)

We were hoping to spend about $200/night for a 4* in MTE. I know it is a busy time of the year but hoping we can still get somewhat of a deal.

We went 2 years ago in May and won a 4* in MTE for $180. It was at The Kimberley, which I would definitely recommend to anyone!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, $200 a night does not look to be enough with rates where they are right now (and this is a busy time of year.) However, on a positive note, you don't look to be that far off from a win in MTE - I'm guessing a 4* will likely take $215-230. Hot.wire has what is likely the W in MTE for $245. Times Square is going to be notably more expensive, unfortunately. Additionally, Hot.wire's inventory looks a tad thin for these dates, so while there's no way to know if rates will come down closer to your stay, this would make it seem less likely (and September is usually a higher traffic period in general.)

Please let us know what you decide and if you have additional questions.

Thank you for all your help!

We ended up booking a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal through your PRICELINE link. We chose the $245 MTE 4 star and it was the W!! We are very excited about this, looks like a great hotel. There is also promotion on now so we received an additional 5% off!

I think we had booked too early because now we would like to go a day in advance. Do you know if they will honor our rate if we add an additional day? On the priceline email confirmation we received it is an option but only at the current rate (which is $431/day).

I called the W and they couldn't match it.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you're pleased with the results and looking forward to your trip.

You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

As far as adding a nite, was the price for an extra nite shown in the email OR did you click a link in order to try to add a nite and it came back with a rate of $431/nite?

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.

I have seen your reviews on other posts for Ess-A-Bagel and it is now on our itinerary for breakfast :)

For the extra night, I had to click on a button and it brought me to a new page. I guess there is supposed to be an option to extend at the same rate however, it doesn't show up. It only shows $403/night now. Do you know if I wait closer to is there a possibility it may be an option to extend at the rate I paid?

Twice

From how you explain it, PRICELINE doesn't seem to have any inventory for the additional nite (which would be understandable if the hotel direct rate is $400+ per nite). Also, you only get one chance to extend the stay, so this likely isn't an option any more. If you'd like help with an additional nite in NYC (at a different property) feel free to start a NEW TOPIC and we will gladly assist you there.
