This is an expensive time in NYC, and if you're not aware, the NYC Marathon will be taking place during your stay (which is always creates a high demand for hotel rooms)... but i do think that you can find something within your budget. To start, the most frequently bid midtown zones at the 4* level are MTE, MTW, TS, MSG, ESB, and Cheslea. A few things to be aware of: MTE - most 4* hotels are well located, but a few can be up to 10 minute walk to the subway, one in particular, up to 15 minutes Chelsea - a few hotels can be up a 10 minute walk to the subway, but this is a 'hot' zone right now so it's still bid frequently and considered to be a desirable area CPS - we don't usually recommend this zone since although it's well located, it has the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards) Please confirm the zone(s) you're willing to accept and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. thereuare Posted July 24, 2014 Report Share Posted July 24, 2014 The only 'known' 4* hotel in PRICELINE's Hell's Kitchen zone is Kimpton's Ink48 hotel, which gets great reviews, but the location is a bit isolating (imo) as there's nothing 'great' to see/do in the immediate area and the subway is not that convenient (again, imo) Please confirm which zones (list them all) that you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. What do you think?I have another question, the taxes that are charge on the site are the same of the hotel? Does it means that I wouldn't have to pay any taxes in the hotel check out? thereuare Posted July 25, 2014 Report Share Posted July 25, 2014 The amount you pay PRICELINE / HOTWIRE includes hotel taxes and any booking fees... typically the only additional fee you would need to pay would be a 'resort fee', which in NYC there are only 2-3 properties that i'm familiar with that charge a resort fee (most resort fees are in 'resort' type areas... Hawaii, Las Vegas, etc) If pursuing HOTWIRE, if you're not on the US version of their site, please start by changing the country destination and the currency drop down menu to United States and US Dollars. Then continue to search HOT.WIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase while staying on the US version of their site.
