3 nights, was looking at Carlsbad near legoland in a 3* or better for 2 adults, 2 kids.  What should I bid on priceline?

I bid 55, rebid 65, rebid 70, all rejected.

Looking for help…I think this Hotwire hotel is Wyndham using the BiddingHelper.com Sea World Mission Bay Shelter Island 3*:

FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Smoke Free Rooms, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower

I'd like to either stay in Carlsbad or stay near sea world but I heard the Wyndhams not that great from a friend.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Best guess for the 3* above would be the Wyndham Garden Hotel.

Keep in mind that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE would still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)

Are you willing to accept the 'occupancy' risk of bidding on PRICELINE? What is your maximum budget for this trip?

I'm willing to accept single bed.  My kids are young, the 4 year old sleeps with us on trips anyhow.  I think I'm leaning towards a 3* in Carlsbad area since they seem more kid friendly.

I bid up to 95 today but no accepts.  There's a PL express deal for 126 on Priceline that seems ok, but I didn't see that in the hotel list for Oceanside Carlsbad express.  I bid region 19, then 22, but then I've been adding region 9 (is that ok? gaslamp doesn't seem to have a 3*).  Thinking I'll bid 100 and 105 tomorrow but might just end up taking the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal later this week if it's available.  I'd like to spend < 125/night with parking included.

Please use the zone names (and not the numbers) as the numbers will change anytime PRICELINE adds, removes, or re-names the zones and it will make it confusing when this thread is read in the future (as well as creates an extra step for us to go look up the zones you're referencing)

When bidding 3* in San Diego you only have ONE re-bid zone... if you don't want to stay in the Gaslamp District i would NOT include this zone in your bidding. The proper (and only way that should be used) to determine your re-bid zones is outlined here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained. Feel free to ask any questions you may have in this regard.

There is a 2.5* PRICELINE EXPRESS for $107/nite, and while lower than what you mention as your minimum star rating above, this property does have a good 8.0 or better user review rating, and includes free breakfast, so may at least be worth a consideration if your bids continue to be turned down. This 2.5* has Outdoor Pool, Free Breakfast, Free Internet in room, Free Parking, Business Center, Fitness Center... and while it has not yet been reported to the board, my guesses would include the Comfort, Suites, Hampton Inn, La Quinta, and Holiday Inn Express.

Keep us updated on your progress and let us know how we can be of further help along the way.

Please include names of zones as the numbers can change at any time.

The hotel list provides only what has been reported to the board - please let us know the full details (amenities, star rating, zone) of a listing if you would like us to help try to ID.

Gaslamp does have 3* properties available - if you can select it, you can get a hotel in that zone at that star rating. As noted at the top of the hotel lists on Betterbidding, do not use those lists to determine re-bid zones. Please read over this discussion of re-bidding and let us know if you have questions before bidding.

I guess the 8.0 rating eliminates Baymont Inn & Suites, also a 2.5* with 6.5 rating on priceline?  That seems like a reasonable option too if so.

Definitely a reasonable option and free breakfast is always a plus. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions.

Yes, the Baymont should not be a possibility for this one given it does not meet the minimum user review rating that is shown for this PRICELINE EXPRESS listing.
