freebird723
Hello - I'm hoping you can help me figure out what is a good starting bid for a 4* hotel in Brooklyn (hoping for Marriott Brooklyn Bridge or Sheraton Brooklyn Bridge). We are shooting for 2-3 nights and are flexible during the first two weeks in August - hoping someone could tell me if weekdays or weekends are cheaper way to go. Thank you for your help! AaronJB
Rates can vary from one day to the next - there is no "standard" that weekends are more expensive than weekdays, rates are really date-specific. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
freebird723
Thanks Aaron as I wasn't sure if there was a strategy to use with weekends or weekday rates. So if we choose to stay in Brooklyn for Aug 7-10th, do you have any suggestions for a starting bid? Link to comment
thereuare
Do you have plans in Brooklyn for these dates OR are you looking for a less expensive alternative to staying in Manhattan? What is your target budget per nite for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. freebird723
Hi thereuare - we do have plans in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan so we thought it would be nice to be based there. Target budget is under $200 per night although lower would be better :) Link to comment
thereuare
I don't think your budget will be an issue. Not sure how much of your plans are in Brooklyn vs. Downtown Manhattan, but i don't think you'll be saving much (if anything) by staying in Brooklyn (vs. Manhattan)... do you want to bid on both zones and let PRICELINE award the one with the lower rate, or do you prefer to stay in Brooklyn (even if more expensive)? Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. freebird723
Bidding on both zones sounds like a plan - I had preferred to stay in Brooklyn near the Brooklyn Bridge, but could also stay in Lower Manhattan near it as well so lets shoot for bidding on both zones. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Do take note how geographically large the Brooklyn zone is and make sure you're comfortable with a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries. When bidding 4* in NYC you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 4* Brooklyn... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* Financial District... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* Brooklyn and Financial District... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120 If the above is rejected, PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the Downtown-Financial District zone for $135/nite, but the link and code in my signature takes an extra 5% bringing this down to $128/nite: Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Wheelchair Accessible (my guess for this one would be the Doubletree Financial District) Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
