Campervangirl65
I'm planning to be in New York from 17 December to the 22nd. I'm bringing my son for his 21st and my daughter so we will need two rooms in a great 4 star or 5 star hotel. Somewhere mid town would be great, perhaps Time Square. This will be our first time in New York at Christmas. What sort of price. Is it best to go for a 5 star. We are coming from the UK and the exchange rate is pretty good right now, though could get even better a bit later in the year Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! You're right on the cusp of some of the most expensive seasonal rates of the year and the sharp price drop in the days immediately before and after Christmas. However, there are some really good deals i'm seeing at the moment: Roosevelt Hotel for $130/nite... this is far from my favorite hotel in the city, but a very nice rate for this time of year. Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan Chelsea West (or small chance it's possibly the Hotel Indigo) for $147/nite A 4.5* will likely run you closer to $200/nite... a 5* closer to at least $300+ (and more likely closer to $400... unless you are willing to stay Dowtnown-Financial which is not as centrally located) Based upon these prices/hotels which star rating do you think you would like to try for and are the 4* hotels mentioned above attractive enough to move forward and lock in your purchase now? Campervangirl65
4.5 or 5 star I think would be more like it. Is it worth splitting the nights in two to take advantage of the lower price closer to Christmas? Link to comment
Romelle
Hotwire pretty much always averages daily rates for a longer span of time. Priceline doesn't seem to be quite as good about it, but usually does. With Hotwire, you can check a split just by entering the full range, and then the two partials. If you watch the amenities offered, you can at least get an idea as to whether or not it is the same hotel. Same for Priceline Express. With Priceline bidding, you can first bid the full span. If that isn't successful, you can try the two partials. Try a lower number for the less expensive dates. If this is successful, then start bidding the more expensive dates working gradually up. Campervangirl65
$300 per night per room excluding taxes. I've just booked the flights so the dates are confirmed. Link to comment
thereuare
PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4.5* hotel in the MTW zone for $210/nite (Pets Allowed, Business Center, Fitness Center), and using the discount link and code in my signature takes an extra 5% OFF, brining this well within your budget at $200/nite. Does this work for your needs, do you want to try bidding for a 4.5* hotel up to this amount, a 5* hotel for more, etc? Your thoughts?
