Hello,

Been a long time member at the great forum for years, but haven't used Priceline much since I've moved to Asia 5 years ago.  My girlfriend is on a business trip and will be traveling to NYC as a sidetrip from Miami on 6/24-6/27. I'm trying to book her a nice decent hotel that's in a convenient location.  Below are the break down of all the information, hopfully someone would be able to help us formulate a bidding strategy.

1. Dates: 6/24-6/27 (4 nights)
2. Budget: $180 all-in
3. Stars Rating: 4* or 3.5*
4. Location (in descending preference): Time Square, Empire State Building, Midtown West, Soho, Chelsea

I hope this is enough information for someone to help us.  I already have a backup hotel on reserve for her at around $200 a night all in, but the location isn't exactly ideal so we're trying to see if we could do better in terms of location and price.

Thanks,

MC

Few questions in order for us to be able to help...

1. Dates: 6/24-6/27 (4 nights)

The above would be a 3 nite stay... is your check-in/check-out dates 6/24-6/28 or is this for 3 nites and not four?

3. Stars Rating: 4* or 3.5*

Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better

4. Location (in descending preference): Time Square, Empire State Building, Midtown West, Soho, Chelsea

Are you willing to pay more to stay in Time Square vs. ESB vs. MTW, etc, etc OR is the goal the least expensive hotel at your desired star rating in any of these zones?

Let us know the above and we'll take it from there.

Yes, sorry it's a 3 night stay instead of 4.

Yes, I'm willing to pay more for a 4* Time Square location which would be my first choice,  second choice would be a 3.5* at Time Square then the following area from my list ESB 4* then 3.5* in decending order.

I hope this answers your questions, please let me know if i can provide any further info.  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Unfortunately i don't think your budget is going to be close to what it will take for a 3.5*/4* hotel in the zones you've listed above... you're more likely looking at $200+ before taxes/fees.

Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find for a 3.5* or 4* hotel in one of these zones? (try searching '1 mile from Time Square NYC' and then filter to only show 3.5* and 4* hotels) What is your alternate plan if not successful bidding up to $150/nite (which will bring you close to $180/nite all-in)?
