Priceline Hotel: Bidding strategy 7/24-25

Looking for one night in the Embarcadero/Financial district, up to $300 all in. Even the 3 star hotels, Harbor Court and Hotel Griffon are over $300 for Queen or King bed. We might just have to pay that, but I'd love to have my $300 go towards a 4 star or higher.

I think I know most of the hotels in the area we're looking at, and I'm okay with all except the Club Quarters. How should I go about bidding? What should I start at? Ideally, I'd love Hotel Vitale, Hyatt Regency because they're closer to the Ferry Building, but obviously Omni would be lovely, maybe Le Meridien. We'd like to be very near a BART station, since we're coming into the city from Walnut Creek.

Any advice?

HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Financial District-Embarcadero zone for $233/nite ($294 all-in) with:

Pet Friendly

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

... bust guess would be the Hyatt, Hilton, or Le Meridien.

PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel for $226/nite, less 5% using the discount code and link in my signature brings this one to $263/nite, with:

Pets Allowed

Restaurant

Fitness Center

... my guess for this one would be the Hyatt.

Do either of the above work for your needs and budget?

Yes, thank you! I'm really interested in the Hyatt Regency, and that seems like a great rate at $263, right? We plan on eating at Boulevard for dinner, so it looks like an easy walk.

I just used the link you gave and also saw a 3.5 star at $189. Any ideas on what that could be? Amenities are

Free Internet in room

Restaurant
Business Center
Fitness Center

Yes, the same zone, the financial district.

I have over a month before we arrive. Do you think it's worth booking now or waiting? We are flexible on budget (up to $300), although getting a "deal" makes it that much more enjoyable in the hotel. We are less flexible on zones, as we want the Embarcadero/Financial District. Thoughts? Bid now or risk a better deal in the next month?

Holy moly, thank you!

I initially searched only saw Harbor Court if I limit to Financial District, but if I look for them all, there's the Hyatt Regency! Thank you!

Idiot question: how do I know it's cancel-able?---NEVER MIND. I read the cancellation policy.
